II. Position Summary

The Head, Field Research and Data will lead the process developing and using appropriate metrics to measure the impact and monitoring the progress of our on ground programmes. S/he will lead the Field Research and Data team with leveraging the power of data to push forth organizational and policy goals - ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of child protection data reports generated and presented to government officials, funders and other stakeholders.

III. Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring, Impact Evaluation and Learning

M&E plans and frameworks:

- Lead the design, development and implementation of M&E systems that enhance project impact, outcomes, outputs and quality.

- Work with programmes at the inception phase to define M&E plans for each project, log frames, and targets, implement donors- requirements, create long term plans, etc.

- M&E processes: Ensure effective use and implementation of M&;E processes and conduct yearly evaluation of those processes.

- Impact evaluation: Effective use of various tools to generate quality evidence on programme impact to promote and ensure use of data driven decision-making processes. (Aangan is currently using baseline and end line surveys, group discussions, one-on-one interviews, community participatory tools to evaluate impact.)

Monitoring Data collection tools:

- (Aangan has a wide range of data collection tools including mobile data collection apps for capturing family and child vulnerability, for capturing community's perception of officials, institutions audit tools, etc.)

- Overseeing effective implementation of all data tools and being responsible for adding new elements that keep these app-based tools relevant for new programmes.

- Ensuring effective use of monitoring and data tools by relevant teams, partners and stakeholders as is necessary

Data Analysis and Reporting

Data management:

- Manage Aangan's complete database to facilitate timely information sharing and learning

- Ensuring state-wise effective data management and warehousing

- Review data being collected in order to locate and fix data entry or data integrity problems early

Data analysis and visualization:

- Manage Aangan's data dashboards to facilitate sharing of information for learning and for decision-making

- Ensure Programme teams are able to access analysis of data and results in a timely manner

Reporting:

- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly data and monitoring reports

- Create annual impact reports for internal and external use

- Support Program Heads in writing project proposals and project progress reports for donors

- Lead analytical projects and create reports to build evidence about Aangan's best practices which can be used to inform other organisations, funders, local officials and policy makers working on child protection

Team Management and Coordination :

- Build capacity of the Field Research and Data team to ensure effective project monitoring, data collection and analysis

- Undertake regular field visits to provide support for proper application of M&E frameworks and tools

- Collaborate with Tech partners to ensure smooth functioning of the monitoring data app

- Coordinate with Programme Heads and Head, Advocacy and Partnerships using data to inform and affect programme and field action

IV. Knowledge and Technical Skills :

- Proficiency in Excel.

- Proficiency in STATA, R or other statistical analysis software will be an added advantage

- Familiarity with research methodologies, tools and analysis for qualitative and quantitative studies proficiency in working with large and multiple data sets

- Proficiency in working with large and multiple data sets

- Knowledge of data visualization and presentation tools such as Tableau, etc. would be useful, but not mandatory.

V. Competencies and Abilities :

- Detail orientated, tenacious and systematic

- Ability to creatively solve challenging problems in the application of research and evaluation methods without extensive structural or operational support.

- Self-starter who will thrive in a fast paced environment by taking ownership and initiative

- Enjoys working under pressure: flexible, highly organized and able to prioritize work to meet deadlines

- Effective and clear written and oral communication

- Open to learning and using new products

- Open to learning and using new products

- Willing to travel when required

- Fluency in both English and Hindi is essential

VI. Education and Experience

- Master's degree in statistics, economics, social sciences, or another relevant field

- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in private or public sector organisations; including demonstrated success in research management and monitoring and evaluation programs.

- Experience Managing a team
