This role is for an innovative and expert data scientist, data and AI professional who will be responsible for creating models that can be used for descriptive and predictive analysis of the behaviors and actions of the administrators, students, teachers and parents of Aakash Digital. We expect the role holder to manage large & disparate data sources, model student & faculty behaviors, generate actionable insights on performance and engagement, and power adaptive experiences for learning and teaching. The role holder will be expected to bring in scientific knowledge, engineer models and exhibit creativity and innovation.

The successful candidate will need to:

a. Create models that identify, classify and predict key customer behaviors using AI/ML techniques

b. Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

c. Code, test and improve models to ensure accurate and reliable actionable insights

d. Model relationships between various important metrics like student usage, test scores etc. and create profiles of learners and the entire learning lifecycle. Use these data points to power student engagement, profiling and segmentation initiatives.

e. Also work with internal/external developers and platforms/tools as required to implement AI based models across products and to process and transform data

f. Gather data, modeling and analytics requirements from key stakeholders

g. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to collate data and create business wide analytics dashboards primarily for product usage parameters and student related metrics but also including relevant sales, revenue, service and implementation data.

h. Analyze the relevant data and reports and derive actionable insights which can power strategic, tactical and operational decision making.

i. Possess end to end ownership of data aggregation and its hygiene while working with both, internal and 3rd party partners.

j. Establish data repositories and processes to populate and manage these repositories

k. Conduct data audits from time to time

l. Establish the validity of data. Perform required operations on data e.g. filtering, cleaning data sets

m. Establish timely and error free reporting mechanisms.

Desired Profile

- 6 - 8 years of experience in data science with demonstrable knowledge and experience in AI/ML techniques

Skills:

- Preferable: experience in building adaptive learning and assessment products in the edTech industry

- Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.

- Excellent background in statistical methods and tools, distributions, statistical testing, regression, time series modeling, cointegration

- Good Experience with common data science toolkits, such as TensorFlow, R, Weka, NumPy and MatLab

- Excellent skills with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.

- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig

- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase

- Experience working with large data sets and creating and refining models

- Data-oriented personality

- Great communication skills

- Ability to convert abstract business questions to data problems

- Ability to work with both structured and unstructured/ incomplete/ dirty/ ambiguous data

Education

- Required: PG Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Economics/Engineering with skills certification in Analytics, Big Data, AI/ML from reputed providers

Tools:

- Proficiency in R or Python, MS Excel and SQL, Tableau, Google Data Studio or related tools

- Proficiency in using Google analytics and other tools

- Competent with ETL processes and tools like Amazon Glue
