Our legal team is young and growing! As our first Employment Counsel, you'll handle a wide variety of employment matters that are core to the company's business and growth. You'll work closely with teams like human resources, finance, and operations to provide expert legal advice and help tackle thorny cross-- functional issues. You'll also be helping to build a legal department from the ground up, and setting the culture for the team. You'll need to be proactive and engaged, able to work well cross-functionally, both internally and externally, excited about technology and eCommerce, and ready to roll your sleeves up to dig into tough problems, either solo or as part of a larger team!

What You'll Be Doing :

- Partnering closely with our human resources team to provide subject matter knowledge of a broad range of employment issues, including wage and hour, recruiting and hiring, employee management, and HR best practices

- Drafting and negotiating a variety of employment-related agreements such as offer letters, contractor agreements, vendor agreements, and more

- Helping to develop and implement scalable self-service tools and processes for the HR team as the company grows

- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to structure employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and managing outside counsel

- Thinking ahead, seeing around corners, and helping to prepare for employment issues that may arise in the future

What You Should Already Have :

- J.D. from a top- tier law school and membership with at least one state bar (preferably Delhi)

- A minimum of 5 years of related experience working on litigation and counseling matters dealing with employment law; prior in house experience preferred

- Deep experience with employment laws in multiple states (including Delhi) and across a wide range of issues

- Proven track record of providing pragmatic and reasoned advice to HR and business partners

- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, get into the legal nitty gritty, and the ability to exercise sound judgment when approaching problems without clear answers
