XL Catlin - Deputy Manager - Strategic Analytics/Predictive Modeling (6-8 yrs)

Primarily responsible for creating statistical models to support improve efficiency and decision making as recommended by Strategic Analytics team. Work closely with the actuarial, risk management, underwriting, claims management information and information technology teams to develop leading-edge analytical decision making.

Primary Responsibilities:

- In accordance with Strategic Analytic's recommendations:

Support the gathering and validation of data required.

Discover business insights in data using exploratory data analysis.

Perform statistical analyses of internal and external data to elicit insights into risk which will form the basis of decision support tools.

Build project methodology; specify statistical analysis approach to be used.

- Work closely with line of business actuarial, underwriting, claims and strategic analytics to communicate and receive feedback on insights arising from statistical analyses and adapt analyses accordingly.

- Work with IT to implement models and create architecture to support data collection and validation.

Job Requirements:

- Masters in in statistics, mathematics, economics or other quantitative field.

- Up to 7+ years of relevant experience, experience in insurance preferred.

- Excellent working knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS, R, or similar.

- Ability to work with incomplete and messy data to extract usable information.

- Strong understanding of core analytical techniques like Cluster & Factor Analysis, Regression, Logistic Regression, GLMs, CART/CHAID/Decision Trees, Data Mining, Machine Learning Algorithms, Sampling Techniques, Design of Experiments etc.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively convey complex concepts to non-analytical people.

- Collaboration and Team work.

- Able to both work well independently and collaborate with people from multiple functions.

- Internally driven and intrinsic motivation.

- Possesses natural curiosity and thinks outside the box.

- Strong execution skills.
