You'll be part of the Data Science group within Global Analytics & Insights team at WU. As a member of this team, you'll work with Data Scientists and analysts on complex data analytics projects across different areas of the business (e.g., marketing, risk, compliance, product).

Within this evolving organization, you will expand current data science and machine learning capabilities, helping create new data tools. Working with different stakeholders and team members you also will help shape strategies and architect solutions for extracting, transforming and optimizing data flows from disparate internal and external data sources.

Key responsibilities :

- Solve business problems by proposing and implementing solutions with the latest data science and big data technologies

- Implementing ETL process for huge structured/unstructured data sets in various data platforms

- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data

- Designing and building data science platform by selecting various big data processing tools and frameworks

- Develop reusable data transformation and statistical model code

- Develop production level code for advanced analytics or Machine learning models to embed in decisioning systems

- R&D on emerging tools and technologies to evaluate value for WU

- Administration and maintenance of data science platforms/tools - R, python, SAS etc.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or closely related field from top-tier college (IIT, NIT, IISc)

- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in software engineering or data engineering

- Deep understanding of the infrastructure powering large scale machine learning and advanced analytics

- Demonstrated ability to design and implement ETL workflows across both Windows and Linux environments

- Experience with SQL and relational database programming

- Experience with Python, Java, or other high level language

- Knowledge of Hadoop stack, MapReduce, HDFS and experience in Hive, Pig, Sqoop

- Experience with designing and building tools based on specific requirements

- Familiar with data mining concepts and machine learning algorithms

- High energy level; be self- motivated results oriented

- Ability to communicate effectively and cross-functionally

- Experience working with geographically distributed teams

- Ability to communicate with diverse audiences (IT, Engineering, Data Scientists, Business analysts) to gather requirements and deliver solutions
