Position title: Vice President - Reference data Operations

Department overview:

Reference Data supports the credit derivatives, bonds, securitised instruments, syndicated loan and legal entity data needs of the financial markets servicing internal as well as external clients. Our broad range of data is specifically designed to facilitate securities trading, settlement, risk management and back-office functions, including accounting and client reporting.

Position summary:

- Reference Data teams delivers consistent, accurate and timely reference data across multiple asset classes and varied set of clients, both internal and external.

- The successful candidate will form a key part of the Reference Data team, responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of Instrument products (Bonds, securitised instrument, Syndicate Loans) and services.

- The role expectation is to lead a team of Associates and Assistant Vice Presidents with the operations. The candidate will need to drive key operational excellence areas to improve delivery and client service.

- The role also includes enhancing the Reference Data product offering.

- Candidate will be part of the team responsible for on boarding new content and better managing existing content by applying the knowledge and expertise on the different asset classes, financial market terminologies, global financial markets and data suppliers.

Duties & accountabilities:

Team Management - Typical responsibilities will include:

- Performance management: Track performance, Performance appraisal, manage staff related issues and escalated if necessary to the appropriate level

- Staff development: Motivate, support and develop staff to enhance and maintain the ability to adapt to the changing requirements of a continuously evolving business environment

- Maintain a stable operational environment: Clear allocation of duties, manage shifts, sustain operational effectiveness, adherence to policies and compliance

- Communicate effectively within and outside a global team

Process Management:

- Manage client and stakeholder expectations through clearly defined SLA.

- Manage vendor relationship to drive constant improvements in quality of supplied content.

- Build effective controls and continuity plans that ensures seamless delivery on product/client expectations

- Initiate and drive improvement projects related to service and data

- Drive opportunities for efficiency gain and implement them.

Product Support:

- Work on strategic initiatives that would lead to coverage expansion, quality improvements and or enhances competitive advantage.

- Drive execution on global initiatives that strengthens the positing of product offering in the market place

- As a key contact for all aspects related to the process, stay updated with all market and technology related changes so that the same can be translated into data/database improvement and changes. Represent the reference data operations group in related project discussions.

- Facilitate problem solving on data and product issues, including database infrastructure and maintenance procedures.

Business competencies:

Education and experience:

- Graduate/Post Graduate degree or equivalent, preferably in Finance, Economics or Business

- 10+ years of experience previously working in a similar analytical environment in capital markets with proven leadership and management capabilities

- Good understanding of SQL is desired

Commercial awareness:

- Very strong understanding of Fixed income terms and conditions, corporate actions and financial markets

- Experience of working in a global and geographically diverse organization

- Clear understanding of competition and value proposition of the offering

Management requirements:

- 6+ years of people management experience

- Experience of building and maintaining strong professional relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
