VP Global Reference Data Management for an MNC Bank in Bangalore.

Purpose of Department:

- Global Reference Data Services (GDS) is a shared service organisation which provides Reference data information across entities. The core responsibility of the department is to own and manage enterprise reference data maintenance across multiple Businesses such as Global Markets, Security Services, Retail Banking & Private Bank, i.e. the management of market data feeds both end of day as well as real time data from third party vendors for all Instruments to support both external and internal data on systems. Information is sourced from external 3rd party applications and databases such as Bloomberg, Reuters and other multiple sources.

Principal Accountabilities :

- To support & work on the department strategy to meet global/multiple business requirements & operating model for GDS

- Set out the goals and priorities (approved by senior management) of the business

- Implement the agreed business and actions plan to achieve the goals and priorities set for the business

- Review and revise the action plan, if necessary during the year in order to achieve the goals

- Supervise the function and ensure that teams do not expose the business to undue reputational /operational risk and/or operationally burdensome

- Supervise and ensure operational standards are met and client issues are resolved timely and professionally

- Close supervision on all operation matters to ensure that all requests are promptly responded to; error free and accurate processing; a smooth and risk-controlled operation to ensure no lapse and compliance of all obligations; audit points raised are promptly implemented

- To closely collaborate with all locations to ensure best practices are maximized

- To provide on-going expert knowledge and insights on existing market practice, coaching and guidance to all team members

- Effective use of the appraisal system, regular guidance, counselling. To address staff development/training needs

- Oversee the development of administrative and operational procedures to ensure their compliance.

- Regularly verify processes to ensure compliance with all internal and external guidelines

- To embrace changes to internal policies and ensure that procedures are implemented to address the risks.

Customers / Stakeholders

- Improved Client Experience

- Engage with the stakeholders to ensure timing, quality and accessibility of data to undertake adhoc or scheduled responsibilities to support the Business & GDS model

- Ensure appropriate documentation is produced and signed off where necessary to support developments and deployments

- Ensure active engagement of key business stakeholders

- To provide insight, advice and discuss with Regional product control and Business stakeholders on the product issues to formulate a product strategy

- Keep abreast to changing client demands and work proactively with clients and internal constituents (eg., new currency, Funds take on ) to offer enhancements to existing product features, where applicable. Proactive management expertise critical to organizational efficiency and good risk control mechanism policies and procedures.

Key Competencies :

- Should possess knowledge on Financial services, Capital markets, investment banking, Reference data functions

- Good knowledge on Market /Regulatory requirements

- Planning and Plan Management

- Process re-engineering

- Risk and Issues Management

- Change and Implementation Management

Skills / Experience :

- MBA with 12- 20 years of experience.

- Minimum 3 years of work with reference data services for financial sectors .

- Excellent Customer facing skills and ability to build rapport with clients.

- Evidence of confidently operating with senior management teams

- Demonstration of commerciality with strong financial acumen

- Proven ability to work with stakeholders and business sponsors

- Evidence of ability to make strategic & timely decision

- Delivery of complex programmes at pace to support delivery at each stage

- Strong people management and leadership experience
