Vodafone - Lead/Manager - Market Development - mPesa (7-8 yrs)

Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary):

m-Pesa market development lead will be responsible for creating demand for m-Pesa services through direct contact program with the customer / market place. The lead will be responsible for management of developing eco systems, merchant networks consumer promotions. One of the key functions shall be to support the circle team in merchant roll out. The lead will work closely with the enterprise team for developing a vibrant ecosystem of NGOs, MFIs, Salary Accounts etc. MDL will explore other opportunities for fund transfer. This position will work closely with circle marketing, and Finance at both the circle level.

Following points capture the key responsibilities of the individual

- Develop & own circle business plan to drive revenue growth and brand leadership in the circle

- Drive implementation of agreed business plan in marketing and eco system development to meet biz goals for circle

- Develop a strong and efficient customer engagement program to promote trail, adoption and increase usage of the m-Pesa platform

- Define parameters and plan for merchant sign ups to create an effective eco system in urban and rural markets

- Joint working with Sales, Retail and Marketing teams for execution of agreed roadmap

- Design and develop cross promotion with telco marketing team

- Single point of contact for all m-Pesa agents network development work in the circle inter phasing between circle, corporate and various functions at the circle

- Management of cost, Marketing and other monies to maximize business impact

- Continuous improvement in consumer promotion quality and high level of customer mind share

Key Result Areas:

- Meeting projected ecosystem development numbers

- Delivery of BD merchant width across the circle and extraction from them

- Meet revenue targets for the circle

- Regular business updates to telco and alternate streams

- Impact of consumer promotions and their quality

- Development of eco systems - NGOs, MFIs, Corporates, Government etc.

- Roll out of merchant network across the circle

- Maintaining visibility at merchants through budget optimization

- Keep in touch & coordinate with the bank's relevant officials in the circle & ensure synergies & coordination in the field

Key Functions & Responsibilities:

Strategic:

- Understand business roadmap, product & service rollout plans

- Implementation of agreed estimation and review processes

- Define and seek agreements over uniform program reporting dashboards and escalation process

- Ensure high confidence and customer satisfaction (CSAT) amongst customers and merchants

- Define, own and implement evaluation framework for consumer engagement

- Design and execute market impacting activities

Operational:

- Ensure transparency to business stakeholders via data sharing and activity tracking

- Work closely with the various departments of marketing, CS, finance and telecom

- Identify best practices for sharing and implementing across the circle to optimize operations.

- Keep the m-Pesa team well informed on their progress on the merchant and promotion performance

- Evaluate execution of consumer promos and merchant tie ups versus revenue impact

- Present consolidated analytical reports to senior leadership team, on m-Pesa delivery

- Keep abreast of the latest happenings in the industry.

- Develop vendors for promotions at merchants and execution of consumer promo offers

- Engage & coordinate with the relevant officials of the bank in the circle to ensure seamless functioning

Developmental:

- Develop promoters/ MDSE and off role team for execution excellence and other rolls

Mandatory skills:

- Overall 7-8 years of telecom / retail finance / banking experience

- Strong experience of managing new businesses right from delivery planning to realization

- Experience of working with large teams & organizations in various capacities in sales, project/program manager

- Experience of managing large, vendors & ensuring their rois

- Experience to manage large programs in multi-vendor and multi-product setup with stringent deadlines and quality expectations

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Clear, concise business communication style with attention to details

- Experience to interact with senior business and it executives

- Ability to build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders

- Experience in defining governance models and ensure implementations

- Strong presentation and negotiation skills
