Vidya Group of Engineering Institutions is a group of engineering institutions that are based out of Hyderabad. The group institutions, Lords Institute of Engineering and Technology and Vidya Vikas Institute of Technology, are both more than a decade old. These institutions are approved by AICTE, affiliated to JNTUH and accredited by NBA. The institutions are highly acknowledged by the industry and academia as can be seen by the rankings awarded by various agencies. The institutions are set to soon become deemed universities in the field of technical Education. At present, there are close to 350 employees in the group and around 4000 students pursuing various programs. The group has plans of further penetrating into the education sector and is looking for people to help them achieve the same.

The promoters of the group are highly qualified (read CAs, alumni of BITS Pilani, ISB Hyderabad) and are in the sector for over two decades. They are looking for people who can work with them and help in transforming the organization from a traditional family run setup to a professionally run organization.

Job Description COO:

- The group is looking to hire a Chief Operating Officer who would work closely with the board and other stakeholders.

- The candidate has to ensure that the colleges are on track to become a private deemed universities by 2018.

- Should be willing to work under the constraints of AICTE and university norms and identify various opportunities and avenues for growth of the organization.

The various roles and responsibilities of the candidate are as follows

Daily Operations:

- To ensure compliance with norms of regulatory bodies

- To liaise with Stakeholders (professors to maintenance staff) for smooth functioning

- To propose different targets to various departments and ensure they are met

- Represent the institution at various platforms

Interfacing with the Board:

- Regularly updating the Board on the institutions' functioning

- Should be able to formulate and track performance metrics

- Should be able to drill down each metric to the ground realities

- Must be able to identify bottlenecks and growth areas and propose solutions to optimize the process

Achieving Targets:

- Growth plans of the colleges to be met - monitor and drive initiatives

- Cascading the management's directives to the ground

Liaising with marketing and BD:

- Insights on competitor performances

- Take inputs from Marketing and BD teams for various initiatives

- Provide inputs about recent developments in the industry

Eligibility:

- 10-20 yr work experience in general management/operations functions

- MBA from a tier 1 or tier 2 university in India or PhD in any engineering discipline

- Prior experience in the field of Change Management

- Should have experience in handling multiple teams across various functions at a given time

- Should have handled P&L responsibilities for at least few years

- Prior work experience in any private technical universities will be an added advantage
