VP-Stress Testing (Anlytics) (10-18 yrs)

Purpose of Department :

- The Stress Testing execution team provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, business strategy implementation, reporting and data management. It forms the information basis for strategic planning by senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

- This role is within the Regulatory Analytics under Risk Analytics. The position will report into the SVP-Regulatory Analytics, and will be responsible for calibration, execution and support of Stress Testing Models across HBAP, MENA, Americas and HBEU.

- The role of the VP Stress Testing Execution is to support the end-to-end execution of regulatory and business ask stress tests. This involves estimating the likely impact of economic and financial scenarios on P&L, RWAs, capital and liquidity resources - both for enterprise-wide stress tests and ad-hoc stress tests directed toward specific countries and/or portfolios of interest.

Job Description :

- This role requires supporting all regional stress testing modelling and execution teams whose primary focus is to drive Stress Testing program to support Retail Credit business & Risk teams

- Past hands-on experience in Stress Testing or Modelling is required so that the person understands all stages in model development cycle and has ability to identify data and functional requirements to develop, calibrate and critically review models.

- Hands on experience in stress testing execution of wide range of secured and unsecured retail portfolios, understand the requirement of regulators such as PRA, EBA, HKMA, APRA, MAS, RBI, Bank of Nagara etc. Provide stress testing results for regulatory and business usage submission that include projections of NPL, EAD, Assets, Provisions, LIC, RWA etc. Keep track of evolving regulatory changes and incorporate these changes in the process to make the results in compliance with regulators expectations.

- The role will have people management role and would need to manage 20+ analysts under a regional structure led by AVPs. Experience of building and running successful high potential team is desirable. The material produced by this team will form the basis of submission to senior management and to regulators. An extremely high standard of accuracy and timeliness will be required.

- Questions about the material or requests for further review will need to be answered promptly.

- The applicant will be expected to exercise on-going quality assurance over the work of the team. Other responsibilities will include:

- Establish and maintain team vision with strong leadership presence both in the Regulatory Analytics team as well as with stakeholders across the group

- Collaborate with other Group functions, Regional teams to ensure effective working relationships which deploy solutions to a prioritised set of challenges

- Manage 20+ analysts and there by ensure high level of employee engagement and motivation

- Lead the day-to-day activities involved in the analytic processes in these areas to ensure high quality and timely results, for key stakeholders both within and external to the Risk function. A particularly critical Run the Bank activity is leading the delivery of the PRA Concurrent Stress Test

- Build a culture of continuous improvement across the department with the active support and buy-in of key stakeholders in supporting the delivery of Group Strategy or change programmes

- Assign tasks and roles effectively across the department to ensure optimal focus and maximum productive utilisation of resources

- Ensure strong sense of urgency across the team in delivering to agreed timelines and with high quality standards

Other Managerial Responsibility :

- Recruit, on-board, train, coach, develop talent and proactively retain high performing team members of analytics

- Manage teams which work with multiple customers/functions on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver in a timely, efficient and effective manner.

- Manage relationship with key stakeholders in the Business (Onshore and Offshore) to build confidence in team and enable stakeholders investment in development of the team

- Drive Analytics wide initiatives

- Ensure adherence with all the applicable compliance policies (Data security policy, AML, operational risk, Functional manual, Group Compliance Manual, Audit recommendations, Internal Control requirements, regulatory guidelines etc.) and business standards of Organization as applicable for the entire team. Take timely action on Audit comments and be able to demonstrate compliance with Internal controls

Skills/Experience Required :

- Strong leadership skills and relevant experience required

- 10-15 years- experience required, preferably in banking and consumer lending

- At least a Bachelor's degree in mathematics/ statistics/ economics/Engineering or equivalent; MBA is a plus

- Prior experience in model development in retail lending is preferred

- Relevant experience in analytics specifically in the fields like Credit Risk Modeling & Basel, Loss Forecasting / Reserving, Risk Strategy, Stress testing, Marketing analytics etc.

- Prior exposure in stress testing and / or impairment reserves.

- Strong understanding of consumer lending products like Credit Cards, Mortgages, Personal Loans, Overdraft, Auto Loans and Line of credit

- Excellent communication skills with technical (the team) and non-technical (senior management in region) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds is essential

- Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly

- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success
