The position will manage and oversee the legal, and compliance functions within the organization and provide legal and compliance support to various functions, with a view to managing and mitigating legal, regulatory and contractual risks arising from the business and operations. The role assumes great importance on account of the increasing regulatory oversight and zero tolerance environment for non compliances and the need to ensure that shareholder compliances and expectations are integrated into the compliance framework of the Company. The ambit and importance of the role is further enlarged on account of the requirement to certify the Company's compliance with all applicable laws in India and provide comfort to the Board of directors from time to time such that the Board can certify compliance as per the provisions of the Companies Act 2013.   - Advise the management on legality of arrangements/proposals and also ensure availability of documentation restricting legal liability within acceptable levels  - Ensure accurate and timely reports to the regulator and maintain cordial relationship with the regulator to ensure smooth conduct of business   - Ensure compliance risks are within organizational appetite at all times, and timely information is provided to shareholders and management so as to be aware of the risk level of the organization.  - Support the procurement functions to resolve complex procurement situations.  - Review all important and strategic business proposals/plans to ensure that the management is aware of the legal and compliance requirements and help mitigate risks.   - Engage with shareholders and distributors on various aspects of compliance matters.  - Lead the Legal and Compliance team by providing the requisite subject matter and management expertise required to turn around the functional responsibilities within the expected timelines  - Implementation of processes and systems and leveraging technology to streamline the function's routine activities and also facilitate easy tracking  - Review of products, processes and other areas which have a regulatory bearing, direct or indirect  The role and responsibilities require a person with graduation or higher qualification in law, conversant with the legal and regulatory framework in India. The role further requires an in depth understanding of the life insurance industry and life insurance business.
