We have been retained by a foreign bank to identify a Vice President- Audit and Compliance to be based at Mumbai.  JOB PURPOSE  To plan, organise, direct and conduct audit in order to facilitate business activities in a risk controlled environment. Perform special audit on the recommendation of business line management, audit committees and as required by the regulators.  To identify, evaluate and report internal weaknesses and highlight associated risks, and recommend measures to rectify the weakness.  Compile an annual audit plan and audit proposition in line with global audit methodology.  To define the compliance strategy for Bank's Products, Services, Finance and steering the Bank through the implementation of the strategy.  To set up compliance policy, guidelines, practices and procedures that meet the requirements of all governing regulatory bodies.  Make a significant contribution to the Compliance Strategic Vision of being an Independent Guardian by setting appropriate standards for Compliance risk assessments.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   INTERNAL AUDIT:  - To provide a view on significant risks (including emerging or potential risks) within the units being audited and an assessment as to whether these risks are being adequately managed.   - An overall assessment on the state of controls within the units being audited.  - Effective & timely completion of all audits including detailed documentation as per the relevant audit methodology.  - Participate in all assigned audit activity in the country.  - Be engaged with audit planning, reports and debriefs in country.   - Delivery of quality audit reports in a timely manner.  - Ensure issues raised are appropriately resolved in a timely manner.  - Ensure early identification and escalation of risks, issues, trends and developments to relevant stakeholders.  - Be prepared to raise issues/concerns outside the normal audit process.  - Adopt an anticipatory approach to risk assessment through stakeholder communication and monitoring of external environment to improve audit planning.  COMPLIANCE:  Undertake Compliance Monitoring reviews across a variety of the banks businesses.   Take an active role in embedding the revised approach to Compliance Monitoring across the bank, whilst ensuring continuous development and improvement of effective Compliance Monitoring protocols.  Implement the bank's Compliance Monitoring Plan in accordance with the Compliance Monitoring Methodology, including:  Facilitate effective regulatory risk assessments.  Interpret Compliance Monitoring Programmes into an organised and risk-based work schedule to ensure effective use of resources.  Execute objective monitoring reviews in conjunction with Compliance colleagues where necessary, through effective liaison with Business stakeholders, a variety of fieldwork approaches, production of quality, focussed reports, and comprehensive record keeping of work undertaken.  Collaborate with the various Compliance stakeholders, to ensure satisfactory completion of Monitoring activities.  Share best practice and learnings with Monitoring colleagues.  Foster close co-operation between and develop excellent working relationships with various Risk and Compliance stakeholders, including Audit & Assurance.   Assess whether Compliance policies and procedures are embedded and operating effectively.  Proactively keep abreast of changes in regulation and legislation, industry best practices, and changes to business activities and products, through self-managed learning and relationships with Compliance colleagues and business networks.  Increase the profile of Compliance within the bank through the identification and escalation of potential or actual regulatory risks in order to protect and enhance the reputation of the bank and to avoid significant financial loss to the bank or its customers.  Promote best practices in Compliance matters to relevant Business stakeholders, gaining buy-in for Monitoring activities through excellent working relationships.  DESIRED SKILLS  Knowledge of Compliance and regulatory matters  Strong analytical skills  A disciplined approach to Planning, Execution and Tracking of issues to resolution  Strong team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues.   Excellent communication skills for documenting and explaining Findings  Strong influencing skills for obtaining buy-in to resolve Findings   Drive and enthusiasm  A positive, - can do- attitude  CANDIDATE PROFILE  Candidates desirous of contesting this position should be Chartered Accountants and or Company Secretary with 8 to 12 years relevant experience, and may respond with their recent scanned photo and CV in word format
