Role: Global Process and Licensing Manager - SAM  Function: IT Application Services / Service Delivery	  Reports to: Software Asset Management Director  Scope: Global	  Location: Bangalore,India  Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role:  - As part of Enterprise Support, IT Services is a critical component underpinning Unilever’s ability to win in the market and achieve the goals of Compass. It does this by delivering excellent IT services globally so that Unilever can better serve customers, translate its global scale into local cost competitiveness and create maximum agility. 		 Enterprise Support and IT Innovation have agreed a joint strategic agenda, which sets out the following ten priorities: 		 - Consumer intimacy 	  - Connect with the customer   - Real time information service  - Seamless business integration   - Great place to work 	  - Deliver superior services   - Efficient service operations   - Global process and systems convergence  - Building a professional services community  - Sustainability program  The IT operating model - which sets out key roles and responsibilities, and interfaces across IT Services and IT Innovation - has been designed to ensure that the IT function can deliver on these priorities.  - The Application Services & IT Service Delivery team plays a vital role in introducing technology innovation to the business in the form of new and enhanced IT services and in delivering a portfolio of integrated global and regional IT services that enable the business to operate and grow. It performs four primary functions:  - Service Introduction: managing the introduction of new or amended services, including provision of centralised ‘factory’ capabilities in support of IT Innovation, to meet the evolving needs and objectives of the business, whilst targeting “zero-incident” change so that the new capabilities are delivered without interruption to business operations.  - Service Delivery: integrating the Service Lines to ensure that all global and regional IT services are delivered to the business in accordance with agreed service levels, continuously minimising the probability and impact of any unplanned service interruption.  - Application Services: delivering second line application support and maintenance services for the Core Platforms, Global Applications and Regional L&H applications in accordance with agreed service levels and Enterprise Support goals and managing the relationship with, and performance of, all third party providers of application development, support and maintenance services.  - User Services: providing end-to-end service line ownership for the service desk, deskside support and user devices (PCs & laptops), managing the user services’ project portfolio and delivering new projects and service improvements to ensure that the Unilever end-users can be productive and effective in their jobs.   The Software Asset Management team provides end-to-end lifecycle management of all software assets, manage software demand globally and engage with IP, Legal and other teams to drive the value and reduce costs; and to drive supplier governance and relationships for 3 Tier 1 suppliers  The purpose of the Global Process and Licensing Manager role is to define and manage the policies and processes related to management of software assets; act as the Unilever COE for supplier licensing knowledge; manage and maintain the global software catalogue; and ensure that all of Unilever’s software assets are in a known state and location.  - The Global Process and Licensing Manager reports to the Software Asset Management Director.   Main Accountabilities:  Within his/her portfolio scope (as above), the Global Process and Licensing Manager has the following accountabilities:  Core Accountabilities:  - Define and own Software Policy and keep it relevant; continued user education/awareness; drive its implementation globally across all business clusters  - Define and manage the process framework for Software Asset Management and integration with other IT/ES processes  - Maintain close relationship with Geography IT teams and Innovation leads via the local software license coordinators   - Diectly work with project/programme managers within ES to provide support and consulting on licence costs and commercially optimal methods of licensing  - Accountable for producing and managing SAM service line KPIs  - Manage the relationship with global software resellers and closely work with procurement to optimise the purchasing activities   - Maintain specialised supplier licensing knowledge and act as CoE for Unilever; Create and lead a community of practice for Software Asset Management within Unilever and using this to leverage internal and external knowledge to deliver a better understanding of the market.   - Manage & maintain effective license position for all software in use, globally, and associated compliance  - Maintain an yearly BAU plan of activity (process improvements, audits, data analysis, remediation)   - Collect Proof of Entitlement and approve small purchase requests globally  - Lead supplier initiated audits and ensure protection of Unilever interests  - Manage & maintain a global software catalogue (package approvals, reviews, additions, removals of software)  - Use Configuration Management system and associated procedures to ensure that appropriate records of all changes to IT assets within area of responsibility are accurately controlled and recorded.  - Initiates, organises and presents sound information and advice on issues such as maintenance of software assets, licensing of software, and legal obligations such as compliance with the Data Protection Act.  - Maintains familiarity with, and uses international standards such as ISO / IEC 19770-1 for software asset management; define strategy for SAM to obtain external accreditation   - Produces and analyses registers and histories of authorised IT assets, their valuation generated (for example) from data in the configuration management database (CMDB) and verifies that all the organisation’s authorised assets are in a known state and location, and that there are no unauthorised assets such as unlicensed copies of software.  Other Key Responsibilities:   - Manage 6WL1 direct reports   Direct Reports / Key Interfaces:  - 6 WL1 Direct Reports	  - Geography IT teams  - ES Programme & Portfolio leads  - End user & small projects  - ES Process office  - S&T organisation  - Indirect’s Procurement  - Software resellers   - Supplier account teams  - IT services teams  Critical success Factors for the Role:  KPIs / Relevant Experience:  - Ensuring Unilever is fiscally and legally compliant for all software in use  - Ensure accurate “Effective Licence Position” for all suppliers with granularity at country level  - Ensure and report of SAM process compliance  - Strong engagement & collaboration with global portfolio leads and geography IT  - Ensure efficient SAM processes that drive the customer satisfaction  Actual KPIs will be set for the role-holders annual objectives/3+1:  Essential:   - Educated to bachelor degree level & ITIL certification  - Extensive experience in Unilever or at least one other global organisation with similar industry, software asset management, and supplier/client relationship management focus.   - At least 10 years of experience in a truly global role working with a globally dispersed set of stakeholders and team members to deliver outstanding results  - Has in the past managed a software portfolio with complexity of thousands of unique software titles deployed across 100+ countries   - Demonstrable drive for excellence in end result under stressful situations and tight timelines  - Major’s on supplier licensing methodologies and is able to explot these for organisations benefit.
