Accountabilities:

Accountable for defining, approving, documenting and communicating standards:

- Ensure that all the standards for data modelling are clearly and concisely documented so that they can be understood by all data modelling resources on the Programme

- Ensure that all data modelling resources on joining the Programme receive and review these standards so they understand the criteria against which their designs will be judged

- Communicate any changes to standards in a timely manner and support Projects to adopt these at the earliest opportunity

Work with the ETL and architecture teams to ensure that the data modelling standards consider the impacts on:

- the source systems and network

- the data model

- Teradata system as a whole.

Ensure that the design decisions ensure a highly efficient, scalable solution which aligns with the overall objectives and vision of the Connect Programme

Accountable for reviewing and approving EDW model change and database design:

- Liaise with all Project EDW data modelling resources across the globe to ensure the alignment in working practices

- Ensure that Project data model deliverables are in line with Data modelling standards - review and approve all designs and raise issues/exceptions where standards are not being met

- Support Projects where requirements do not fit neatly into pre-existing standards.

- Support Projects to remediate outstanding issues with standards from prior releases

- Own and manage the Project gate criteria and report status of Project delivery to the Global BI Data Model Manager, thus providing a clear overview of the programme’s data modelling delivery.

- Liaise with accountable Project delivery directors where Projects are veering away from standards and agree actions and timelines to resolve issues identified.

- Influence model change and Project solution design in order to comply with business and EDW design principles and requirements

Skills, Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

- Strong experience in Enterprise Data Warehouse design

- Strong experience in Logical, Physical and Semantic modelling

- Strong experience of the ERwin data modelling toolset

- Ability to identify, create and communicate logical and physical design patterns and standards across a global community of data modellers

- Ability to perform change impact analysis e.g. schema comparison.

- Knowledge of Teradata physical design an advantage

- Knowledge of SAP ERP/ECC desirable

- Knowledge of Excel/VBA scripting desirable e.g. model validation/impact analysis

- Ability to work with a global team

- Ability to coach modellers new to the Connect Programme

- Ability to chair design review meetings and approve design decisions

- Ability to prioritise own work and the work of others
