Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role :

- Unilever faces a drastically changing business context, and the demands on the business are going to get more challenging, not less. The business world is changing and we are working in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world - and so mobility is not an option for Unilever, it is a prerequisite for success.

- There are more devices, in more configurations, being used to do an increasing number of activities, with greater integration with cloud services and so there are more options available to us to unleash the power of mobility than ever before. Employees are importing their behaviours from the consumer devices and services they use in their personal lives and so our people want, need, and deserve, mobile tools that will help them realize the agile dream.

- The need for this increasingly Agile and Mobile workforce is happening while the sheer volume of available devices and services required by the business is dramatically multiplying. However, at the same time the business needs us to deliver robust mobility services whilst relentlessly driving down cost. The Mobile and Devices team plays a pivotal role in enabling the levels of mobility and agility that Unilever needs to succeed.

The purpose of the Global Contract Manager is :

- Provide contract and commercial support and advice to global procurement and Geography IT in order to implement and operate all relevant IT services contracts (and any sub-contracts) and other agreements that reside within the Mobile and Device Service Line.

- Define key requirements for supplier contracts within the service line

- Timely delivery of contract renewals

- Ensure that the sourcing strategy delivers best value against industry benchmarks

- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers

- Ensure governance processes in place and working effectively

- Manage contractual compliance

- Manage commercial risks associated with sourcing arrangements

- This role also involves collaborating with suppliers and geography IT teams to ensure effective contract and commercial management processes.

- The Global Contract Manager reports to the Mobile & Devices Contract and Commercial Manager.

Main Accountabilities :

The Global Contract Manager will be accountable for the following :

Sourcing Strategy And Procurement :

- Contributes to the development of a sourcing strategy in line with the overall IT sourcing strategy.

- Implements the sourcing strategy for Mobile and Device services that best meets the needs of the business in terms of quality and cost.

- Applies procurement strategy, standards, methods, processes and management practices to ensure compliance with legislation, regulation and Unilever policies.

- Ensure that the sourcing strategy delivers best value against industry benchmarks and market direction

- Influences policy and procedures covering the selection of suppliers, tendering and procurement, promoting good practice in third party management with respect to information security.

Contract Management :

- Supports IP in establishing Contracts with suppliers, ensuring contracts meet business objectives

- Promotes change control processes and leads negotiations when necessary.

- Undertakes comprehensive financial evaluations of commercial terms and conditions.

- Ensures that lessons learned from reviews are documented and promoted with colleagues, stakeholders, and the supplier organisation.

- Establishes the contract governance framework including Master Service Agreements and change control processes; appropriate risk management processes; governance for addressing performance issues; and, processes for undertaking continuous service improvement activities.

- Identify any contract non-compliance by Unilever or suppliers and work with stakeholders to remedy non-compliances or escalate issues for resolution.

- Ensures that organisation, processes and tools are in place to conduct benchmarking.

- Establish a framework to monitor the service provided and ensure good value for money over the lifetime of the contract.

- Ensure contract and commercial changes follows strict governance process and are collated for audit purposes

- Ensure that all service and contractual related issues & risks are managed through the governance processes.

Contract Advice :

- Review and confirm that contract changes proposed by suppliers and Unilever will preserve the overall integrity of the existing contracts and agreement and their associated key commercial terms

- Receive requests for clarification specific to existing contracts and agreements, provide interpretation of contract terms and conditions and support Unilever teams in their negotiations with suppliers.

- Support key stakeholders in understanding existing contracts and agreements in order to secure best value for money

- Ensure any termination or partial termination of the services is in accordance with existing contracts and agreements, and that the commercial impacts are well understood by all Unilever key stakeholders

- Assist with the effective resolution of contract commercial disputes, issues and negotiations

- Supports Geography IT in implementing supplier changes

- Deliver appropriate reports and update summaries to input into process governance meetings as required

- Act as subject matter expert to assist with resolution of contractual and commercial issues and disputes

- Develop strong, professional, value based, win-win relationships with selected providers to meet our current and future requirements

- Ensure service provision governance policies are developed, documented and implemented in the form of Service Procedure Manuals

- The service provider value and performance is benchmarked during the contract lifecycle to ensure cost effective service is continuously delivered.

- Ensure the Vendor Governance Management process is defined and implemented effectively

Commercial Analysis :

- Review and provide feedback to Unilever teams on supplier commercial proposals.

- Identify opportunities for commercial tightening of existing contracts and agreements, working with Unilever teams,and Indirects Procurement colleagues, to negotiate improvements

Stakeholder Engagement :

- Ensure that stakeholder requirements are considered as part of contract renewals / re-negotiations

- Ensure that stakeholders are kept abreast of delivery against areas within their interest, across various levels of the organisation.

Other Responsibilities :

- Ensuring that all in-scope vendors are managed using a globally consistent approach and process.

KPIs :

- Contract renewals are managed in line with renewal dates

- Contract changes follow strict governance process and are collated for audit purposes

- Baseline mobile data exists for all countries

- Effective benefit realization monitoring and reporting across the supplier portfolio

- Monitor, measure and ensure effective management of contractual escalations with the vendors

- Ensure that the Service provided is Value for Money by Benchmarking against industry standards

Actual KPIs will be set for the role-holders annual objectives/3+1.

Relevant Experience :

Essential :

- Educated to bachelor degree level

- Implementing and operating IT outsourcing and IT services contracts (minimum 5 years)

- Financial or commercial management

- Negotiating with IT suppliers

- Reviewing and commenting on contracts

- Risk identification and management

- Good commercial, organisational, time management, negotiation skills.

- Displays good inter-personal skills at all levels of contact and in a wide variety of situations

- At least 5 years of experience in a global role working with a globally dispersed set of stakeholders and team members

Desirable :

- Shows a thorough understanding of standard contracting procedures within Unilever or other global organisations.

- Possesses a good understanding of the business and commercial context of Unilever and good awareness of mercantile and contract law as this applies to the provision of IT services
