Position Title: Engineering Manager  Function : Infra & SD  Reports to : Engineering and Operations Manager - ERP Services  Location: Bangalore  ABOUT THE ROLE  We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manger to work in one of the largest technology estates in the world, including one of the largest SAP installations. The IT environments and infrastructure are global, highly complex and diverse. The role will require you to recruit, manage and develop multiple teams of technical specialists located off shore and on shore. You will be responsible for providing operational support to ensure issues affecting service are resolved in a timely manner. The successful candidate will work closely with other Unilever Europe IT groups, especially with the Strategy and Planning and Innovation organisation, and 3rd party suppliers (e.g. IBM, Microsoft) to create forward plans for the ongoing development and enhancement of the system environments managed by the teams.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   - Monitor the performance and characteristics of operational systems, and make any necessary adjustments so as to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.   - Recommend appropriate remedial actions to maintain performance at the agreed levels for Incidents, Problems and Requests.  - Analyse the operational performance of their team(s) using information from available sources, such as Time Recording and Remedy databases, identify any shortcomings, propose and implement changes to improve individual and team performance.  - Provide monthly reports on team(s) performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators and ensure teams are aware of their own performance and that of other teams within Enterprise Computing thus holding them to account.   - Plan the resources, skills and the activities of their teams in the light of anticipated customer demands and operational projects to ensure sufficient resources and skills are available, taking into account holidays, training, sickness, and ensure that customer priorities are met.   - Advise the Infrastructure Services Leadership team of any perceived shortfalls, current or anticipated, in their teams, in the areas of resource or skills levels.  - Ensure that maintenance and upgrades to the systems are implemented in line with agreed plans and timetables, whilst maintaining the agreed levels of service to customers.   - Set, maintain and communicate agreed technical standards relating to the systems.  - Maintain the relevant level of system security to ensure full compliance with the current Unilever Security Policies.   - Review the performance of problem resolution activities by the team to ensure that high priority problems are resolved promptly.   - To contribute to the compilation of Operational Plans by identifying operational service improvements to include: resource estimates, costs, timescale estimates, benefits and associated risks.   - Attend regular service improvement reviews with 3rd party vendors, ensuring actions arising are progressed and to highlight areas of concern.   - Act as deputy to commodity services manager   - Ensure that roadmap and architecture building blocks are fit for purpose and meet operational requirements.   - Maintain a view on industry trends and work with Innovate and CTO organisation to review how these can be used by the operational teams to increase operational effectiveness.  - Continually review ways of working and identify improvements to increase team’s agility and speed of delivery.   - Drive continual service improvement and problem management to ensure that supported platforms are stable and efficient.   - Developing roadmaps to drive utilisation of deployed toolsets.   - Discipline Specialist  ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS   - Strong Techno-Functional experience of 5+ years as a Individual contributor alongside people management  - Managing teams of on and off shore technical personnel  - Senior stakeholder management having effective communication and influencing skills  - Experience of operating in a global environment: multi-country and large global user base  - Experience of delivering into a complex technical environment and global systems  - Demonstrate experience in managing one or more of the following technologies:  - Knowledge of SAP Products (BASIS or ECC or XI or BI or Basis or APO or SCM or SNC or BW or PI) and configuration within a DB2 environment  - Knowledge of Unix – AIX/Power HA and TSA and TWS for Application of SAP and configuration of X-Agents  - Knowledge of DB2 Database Administration, Troubleshooting and Tuning; DB2 Database Architecture  - Process development, review and management. Knowledge around best practice in capability assessment, configuration, usage, integration of the SAP landscape (e.g. tooling, TSM, TSA)  - BE / B.Tech with MBA from premier institutions
