Team Developer / Technical Developer
Formal Education/Certification :
- Graduation or Post Graduation in Mathematics/Statistics, Pursuing Actuarial Exams, Passed one to three exams
Experience : 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience
Domain Skills : Pensions or insurance domain experience will be an advantage
Technical Skills :
- Leverage/Project & Resource Management Starts to leverage junior colleagues to complete valuations
- Completes straight forward valuations independently and some complex valuations simultaneously with oversight
- Prioritizes projects with limited assistance
- Initiates most valuations without prompting; begins to understand scope, timeline, and deliverables
Technical Skills 2 :
- Communication with Clients Handles calls if required with the stakeholders they are working with Drafts original materials with some guidance
- Communicates work to others in a clear, concise manner
- Escalates questions to appropriate team members
Technical Skills 3 :
- Client Knowledge and Relationships Solid relationships developing with the stakeholders
- May answer some client questions without reliance on lead actuary
- Basic working knowledge of client's valuation
Technical Skills 4 :
- Ownership of Work Able to test for errors and reasonability
- Learns to check work performed by others
- Documents own work and prompts documentation of work done by others
- Offers up valuation options (e.g. suggestions on how to handle pre-funding balances)
Technical Skills 5 :
- Learning/Technical Knowledge Uses formal training to reinforce technical knowledge; questions how it applies to own valuations
- Trains entry level colleagues; may lead new hire sessions
- Able to explain National Valuation Team valuation process to junior colleagues
- Builds knowledge of valuations and interprets results
- Solid knowledge of National Valuation Team standards and processes, including ProVal
Technical Skills 6 :
- Client Financial Results Become progressively efficient at completing valuations accurately and within time constraints
- Begins to gauge how long projects should take
- Suggests ways to improve client recovery
- Recognizes difference from prior cycle and how that could impact scope
