Role Summary :

- Architecture, Build and Support of Synchrony Financials Oracle and SQL Server database infrastructure and contributing to the infrastructure services strategy

- Ensuring Oracle and SQL Server database environment strategies are in-line with business objectives and goals

- Provide proactive consultancy and definition of requirements to other IT teams ensuring projects are aligned with the database strategy and will meet defined service levels

- Adherence to all aspects of the SDLC process and procedures for all projects led or participated in

- Optimize the use of existing resources while delivering a reliable, flexible and cost effective solutions

- Proactively recommend improvements that continuously increase the stability of environment and protection of our data

Essential Responsibilities :

- Set architectural strategy and standards for Synchrony's Oracle and SQL Server database solutions across all data centers and business center sites.

- Provide leadership to contractors in delivery of Oracle and SQL Server database infrastructure, processes and documentation.

- Set requirements and partner with other IT teams in delivering database design that meets business requirements and service levels.

- Responsible for database lifecycle management strategy from architecture/design & implementation to operational readiness (accurate & complete CMDB, SOP- s, run-books) to end of service life.

- Subject matter expert in regards to data protection and high availability design for Oracle and SQL Server infrastructure.

- Responsible for regulatory deliverables including audit and Sarbanes Oxley.

- Assist in driving operational excellence throughout all Synchrony Financials systems and processes

- Development & maintenance of Oracle and SQL Server database environments including roadmap, service catalog and architectural documentation ensuring materials are kept complete and current

- Provide leadership & support for resolution of Oracle and SQL Server database incidents

- Oversight of Oracle and SQL Server database infrastructure ensuring they continue to operate as designed

Qualifications/Requirements :

- Overall experience 10 to 15 years- experience 5-7 years of experience in a database leadership role

- IT experience spanning a broad range of technologies including Microsoft window architecture, SQL Server database, clustering, Oracle database, RMAN, OEM, Autosys, data protection strategy, database provisioning, encryption and high availability infrastructure

- 5 -7 years of experience with Oracle and SQL Server database configurations in a mission critical environment

- Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support in an L3 capacity

- Experience with applications running in Windows and Unix environments

- Excellent organizational, problem solving, communication, prioritization and facilitation skills

- Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task

- Ability to work with IT application teams and understand requirements for databases

- Track record of timely delivery

- Off-hours work and some travel will be required

Desired Qualifications :

- ITIL certified

- Converged infrastructure experience

- Certification in project management

- Change agent with ability to drive compliance, protocols, & standardization

- Strong business acumen & successful track record in aligning with other IT teams
