Strategy Consulting - Natural Resources - Chemical/Energy/Metal/Mining/Utilities (7-11 yrs)
Key Responsibilities:
The role envisages both business development and service delivery responsibilities with stronger focus on delivery.
Engagement Management: Be accountable for the performance of an engagement including.
- Divide of the project scope into discrete workstreams and assign responsibilities to individual team members
- Guide team members on their workstreams and ensure that inputs from team leadership as well as Subject Matter Advisors are appropriately taken
- Ensure that team members are achieving their targeted development plan during the engagement
- Monitor the status of each workstream and keep the team leadership informed.
- Identify and manage key client stakeholders
- Ensure that client expectations from the engagement are met while also adhering to project timelines and financials
- Business Development: Lead / be a part of pursuit teams for scoping the opportunity, shaping the proposal. Develop / maintain relationships with key client personnel.
Domain Development: work with the concerned SM & SE to tailor them to client requirements in India. Assist in developing point-of-view, research or white papers, and support development of marketing collateral, public speaking and publication in industry periodicals.
- People Development: Support the people development initiatives to enable growth. Perform role of counselor and coach to team members, participate in recruitment and other activities.
Competencies and Characteristics:
- Must be comfortable working with client teams and interacting closely with middle / senior management executives in a range of environments
- Should demonstrate a team oriented and collaborative approach, and excellent communication skills, including strong oral and written communication capabilities
- The individual should have a deep understanding of the Utility sector in India - overall industry dynamics, issues, typical challenges faced by clients and an appreciation of operational aspects of the sector
- The individual should have successful track record of delivering results to Utility companies (either as a part of consulting or industry experience), preferably in India and in the private sector
- The individual should be self-driven and have strong intellect coupled with proficient commercial instincts
- Openness to serve clients in the resources space outside utilities (e.g. Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas, Chemical etc.) should the need arise.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5-10 years of overall experience (Industry + consulting) including at least 3 years in the utilities industry/serving utilities clients. Experience in industry should be with MNCs/leading Indian companies and should predominantly be in an operational improvement/strategy role.
- Preference for candidates who have consulting background in addition to industry experience. Consulting experience should include managing a team for at least 6 months. Individuals with sales in addition to delivery experience in consulting would be preferred
Work experience with Power Generation and T&D Companies should ideally cover at least 3 areas across

- Project management
- Plant Operations and Maintenance - Improve plant O&M practices, procurement, supply chain mgmt etc.
- Automation / IT
- Marketing and Sales
- Organisation structure and HR processes
