Strategic Procurement Manager - Solar Energy Startup (4-9 yrs)

Our client is the leading owner and operator of distributed rooftop solar power in India. Our client constructs and operates distributed rooftop solar projects for industrial and commercial customers under long-term power purchase agreements. Rooftop solar power eliminates the need for costly and inefficient transmission by generating and consuming electricity within the same area. Distributed or rooftop solar is a green technology that can provide significant economic and environmental benefits. Under the Modi government, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has targeted the development of 40 gigawatts of rooftop solar by 2020.

The company was founded in 2012 and is run by veterans of the power industry with extensive experience in global companies like AES, NTPC, Mirant and SBI Capital Markets. With substantial funding from I Squared Capital, it seeks to expand its footprint and become a leader in rooftop solar in India and Southeast Asia. The company has set up a state-of-the-art centralized monitoring facility in the outskirts of Delhi and growing its project and field teams across India and Asia.

As a Strategic Procurement Manager You will play a role in developing a long term sourcing strategy for the company. You would need to look beyond just using traditional sourcing strategies and develop innovative sourcing strategies that would make the procurement function of the organisation as a competitive strength. You must have prior experience of procurement in the solar energy domain.

The role includes:

- Responsible for entire Procurement, Materials & Contracts operations involves Strategic sourcing plan, Contract Management & Stores.

- Determine procurement and contracts objective, conceptualizing and implement system policy MIS and procedure

- Analyse and Review entire PO raising process & ensure authenticity of entire process.

- Pro actively work with internal stakeholders & identify major procurement opportunities.

- Regularly liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers

- Identify potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them

- Develop and manage the procurement department including setting targets and monitoring performance

- Negotiate and agree contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided by the vendors or suppliers.

- Develop an organization's purchasing strategy.

- Evaluate bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.

- Discover the most profitable suppliers and initiate business partnership

- Negotiate with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms

- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

- Candidate would need to foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients

DESIRED PROFILE:

- Candidate should have engineering background - BE / BTech - Electrical will be preferred.

- Candidate must have minimum 4 years of post qualification experience

- Candidates should have strong background of negotiations, vendor management.

- Candidate should be comfortable working on strict timelines.

- Candidate should have strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel

- Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in procuring items for solar power units.

Location: Gurgaon, Sohna Road

Salary: 8 to 10 lacs
