Strategic Procurement Lead - Solar Energy Startup

Our client is a leading distributed rooftop solar power company in India. Our client constructs and operates distributed rooftop solar projects for industrial and commercial customers under long-term power purchase agreements.

- It has a team of solar industry veterans as the founders and is well funded by international VCs. They are expanding fast and have established themselves as a leading player in this market.

- As a Strategic Procurement Lead will play a role in developing a long term sourcing strategy for the company. You would need to look beyond just using traditional sourcing strategies and develop innovative sourcing strategies that would make the procurement function of the organisation as a competitive strength.

The role includes :

- Monitor High End multiple sourcing & procurement processes on daily basis and take corrective action as and when required.

- Lead the Sourcing & Procurement Operations (Tactical Buy, Contracting, Transaction Processing, Vendor Management & Catalog Management functions) for the customer.

- Maintain relations with client contact and ensure their needs are met in a timely manner and proactively implements control measures

- Encourage, plan and executive process improvement initiatives and best practices which can be shared with other teams.

- Lead operation leaders and provide cross functional support. Coach and mentor operation leaders so that they are able to manage their teams better.

- Assess performance of Team leaders on an ongoing basis to identify gaps with the operation leads and develop operation leaders so that they are able to take up larger responsibilities.

- Identify and resolve people and process related issues. Deal with internal and external Attrition and their operational affects.

- To lead and motivate staff with widely differing aspirations working in productivity based environment where deadlines are critical.

- Ensure purchases for required goods or services are made by recommending and/or complying to Approved, appropriate supplier/s, costs, processes, etc.

- Developing the Customer's internal change strategy

Candidate Profile :

- Should have engineering background - BE / BTech - premium institutes will be preferred.

- Must have minimum 8 years of Procurement experience

- Should have strong background of negotiations, vendor management.

- Should be comfortable working on strict timelines.

- Should have strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel

- The candidate should have an experience in procurement in a solar company.

- Vendor Management - Explore and engage new Vendors to gain competitive advantage

- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market
