- Optimization of economic capital to create sustainable value in WB business by crafting and agreeing risk appetite that helps to achieve a desired risk profile from which we can secure relatively better returns than our competition over the longer term.  - To ensure that the quality of the Corporate credit portfolio of Wholesale Banking in India - South II is maintained within acceptable parameters, as defined by WB credit policy and country underwriting standards (CUS), and that the reporting of information relating to that portfolio is timely and accurate.  - To instil a strong credit culture by setting the highest standards and demanding that these are maintained by all Business teams in India - South II.   - Proactive management of the portfolio credit risk profile within agreed risk appetite. Reducing P&L volatility by running a largely - surprise free and well managed WB book.  - To be the contact point on country credit risk matters for local country regulators and external auditors.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :   Credit Process :   - Ensuring that the quality of Limit Applications (BCAs) meets Group standards, particularly with regards to the completeness and depth of risk analysis.  - Approving BCAs falling within own discretion and support of applications that require approval outside the territory, where appropriate.  - Approving breaches of Local Underwriting Standards, to the extent permitted by WB Credit Policy.  Credit Policy :   - Formulating and obtaining approval of Local Underwriting Standards which is supportive (from credit risk perspective) of the business strategy of various segments   Credit Information Reporting :   Destination Responsibilities - Ensure usage of Risk MI is embedded in future BAU credit risk information reporting including for submission to Regional Credit Issues Forum and other portfolio analytics work in country.  Portfolio Management :   - Monitoring compliance with credit policy and CUS on at least a quarterly basis and reviewing any divergence thereof with CEO and Origination and Client Coverage (OCC) Head/Segment Heads to ensure credit quality targets are achieved.  - Ensure EAR process is adhered to and participate in the monthly EAR discussions. Assisting relationship managers in identification and managing up or out of accounts exhibiting signs of deterioration and assist Group Special Assets Management, where appropriate, in managing criticized accounts to maximise recoveries and minimise losses.  - Ensuring specific and general stress tests are being conducted periodically, in accordance with the assertions made within Group / Country ICAAP documents, including understanding the RWA impact of credit grade migration and the potential constraints this will place on new business.  Business Contribution :   - Increasing working profits through effective management of the loan asset portfolio in order to help develop the franchise in a sustainable way and minimise provisions.  - Effective use of RORWA in pursuance of WB strategy and subsequent allocation in the various industries sectors in order to diversify risk.  - Maximizing Economic Revenue through effective management of the risk/reward relationships.  - Maintaining credit quality and standards of professionalism for the risk function.  - Ensure effective implementation of Group Policies / Circulars / Procedures.  - Participate actively in any group initiative to improve systems and processes.  Stakeholder Management :   - Actively engage all stakeholders (eg. Business partners) to raise their awareness of credit issues and how these are managed by the Credit Risk function.  - Ensure that Credit Risk decisions are transparent and supporting rationales are explained in a professional and courteous manner, especially when turning down proposals.  - Be aware of major decisions by other stakeholders and assess the potential impact on Credit.  Operational Risk Management Assurance (ORMA) :   - Ensure compliance to the ORMA framework including the effective application of risk toolkit (self-assessments, KRIs, KCSs, etc) and reporting.   - Ensure full awareness of all the policies & procedures issued in relation to money laundering prevention. Ensure compliance with these policies & procedures on an ongoing basis and immediately report any suspicious transaction to the Supervising Officer.  Others :   - Live by values and brand promise 'Here for Good'.  - Determine credit training needs within their territory and arrange for these needs to be met in collaboration with Organisation Learning.  - Ensure that new users are trained on all credit systems including scorecards.  - Actively participate in monthly Regional Credit Issues Forum or in-country Portfolio Committee (RCIF).  - Undertake regular customer visits to better understand the business environment.
