A. Job Purpose

Head of the Senior School (700 Students from Grade 8 to Grade 12) who provides instructional leadership to all the functions of the school. Is responsible to develop and implement policies,programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each Teacher/Staff. Sets expectations and effectively delivers results for academic achievement, school culture, physical safety and Teacher/Student performance.

C. Key Responsibilities (Key expectations from the role Senior Program Head)

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Academic and pedagogic leadership: Provide academic, pedagogic and instructional leadership to Teachers. Ensure design and delivery of effective learning methodologies,practices and processes inside and outside of classroom. Mastery of key academic and instructional leadership processes necessary.

2. Performance Management: Drives accountability in the school through periodic and consistent reviews and feedback mechanisms. Set high standards and communicates them effectively. Orchestrates their successful achievement through periodic appraisal of performance (formal and informal) of teachers, staff and students.

3. Coaching and mentoring Teachers: Provide constant coaching and mentoring to Teachers with a view to improve the quality of classroom transactions. To provide a balance of scaffolding and freedom to Teachers with a view to bring out their best.

4. Building a culture of Love and Rigor in the Student Community: Develop and sustain a culture of love, care and high expectations among the student community through role modeling, mentoring Teachers and implementing effective systems and processes.

5. Implementation of organizational initiatives: Creates buy-in with stakeholders (Teachers, Parents and Students) and provides leadership to implement some of key organizational initiatives within time schedules. Create structures and systems to implement, monitor and review organization initiatives. Work closely with other program leaders and school leaders to implement school wide priorities.

6. Advocate of School's philosophy: Champions the school philosophy with all its stakeholders. Creates a compelling vision of school to Teachers, Parents, Students and the community at large. Intervenes on any deviation from the school's philosophy, vision and values in the areas of instructional programs, extracurricular activities, program evaluation, discipline, systems and process etc.

Secondary Responsibilities:

1. Hiring the best talent: Creates structures and processes to ensure that the school hires the best talent.

2. Administration and infrastructure support: Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures etc. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations. Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of students, employees and visitors.

3. Budgeting and financial control: Prepares and manages budgets, plans and projections.
