Senior Manager - Finance (4-6 yrs)

Challenges:

- Streamlining systems and processes for effective, efficient flow of information between budgets, MIS and accounts, CFS, per donor, statutory as well as internal reporting requirements

- Stay updated and ensuring compliance with Income Tax laws, accounting standards and other related acts to guarantee a fully compliant operating model for CIIEI

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounts, Audit and Tax

- Close the books of accounts and prepare financial statements on a quarterly basis

- Prepare annual balance sheet and related annexure, provide necessary documents to auditors for filing of tax and ensure that tax returns of CIIEI and its affiliates are filed within due date with Income tax, MHA and other statutory authorities

- Get the statutory audit of CIIEI and its affiliated entities done before 31st May every year

- Supervise expense booking under appropriate head and project according to organisation and project budget and all excess funds (keeping one-month runway) are parked in FDs

- Review all month-end closing activities including ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset verification and corporate/overhead cost allocation

- Reply to scrutiny notices received from Govt. including income tax

- Charge appropriate overheads to the various projects

- Implement good employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximising a cost-effective benefits package

- Manage preparation and support of all internal and external audits

- Ensure that all statutory payments and liabilities of the company are paid-off and income tax notices are addressed within the set deadlines

2. Cost analysis, Budgeting, Preparing MIS & Reporting

- Prepare quarterly/yearly budget of the organisation and make financial reports with analysis on various parameters

- Track performance of each program and calculate its unit economics

- Assist project leads in creating program budgets and update them quarterly or as and when required on the available project fund balance and expenditures

- Ensure timely and comprehensive financial reports (including audited, unaudited, UCs) to contributors/donors/ partners as per agreements and as per their requests.

3. Internal Control & Efficiency

- Align accounting head, amounts and other details reflected in all the reports such as CFS, books of accounts and other financial reports, balance sheet, partner reports, management reports, cash flows etc. to ensure all of them are in sync

- Develop tools and systems such as dashboards to measure various metrics and provide critical financial and operational information to the team lead and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations

- Ensure that all expenses of the organisation incurred within the budget (management as well as partner budget) and booked within timeline as per Company's policy to ensure that there is no breach of contract, and they are maintained on accrual basis instead of cash basis

- Maintain and ensure all records such as i.e. tally data, donor budgets, management budgets, accounting vouchers, receipts, various reports, employee/consultant letters, bank statements, reconciliations etc. are indexed, stored in common repository, in soft as well as hard copies

- Coordinate with team lead to continuously improve processes around accounting and finance as we scale

- Ensure finance staff maintain records as per Indian accounting standards

- Support members of finance and accounting team as and when required

- Engage and present to the team lead on financial utilisation, funding and donor pipeline, revenue streams, creation of a corpus etc

Qualification & Skills:

- C.A. having 4 - 6 years of experience in finance and accounting of both for-profit and non-profit. MBA in Finance and experience in Venture Capital Fund accounting are added advantage.

- Should have strong knowledge of non-profit accounting and compliances mainly under FCRA, Income Tax, Companies Act, etc

- Should be proficient in Excel (Advance Level), Tally ERP and other accounting software packages

- Should be excellent in written and verbal communication with eye for details and precision in presenting data and reports

- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills

- Has demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills
