Client Details

Our client is an American multinational global courier delivery services company with a presence in more than 200 countries and territories.

They are currently looking for a Senior Manager (Associate Director) - Accounts and Controls for their Finance team in Mumbai.

Description

Your responsibilities will include:

- Lead a Management Team with responsibility for Financial Accounting and Controls, and Outsource operations for Europe/ MEISA. Maintains alignment with related finance areas in EMEA in order to secure goal achievement, and compliance of all processes with specific Company requirements, fiscal regulations, and local & US GAAP

- Develops, recommends and/or implements effective structures, processes and controls that incorporate country specific regulatory/fiscal requirements, and provides assurance relating to corporate governance & controls.

- Develop a good overall understanding of the business and of the macro business environment (economic, industry, competitor etc) within EMEA.

- Develop and maintains an in depth knowledge of developments/trends within the Finance field (relevant social, fiscal & financial regulations & practices, financial systems & processes, associated risks etc) that potentially have a significant impact on the legality, profitability & growth of India & the EMEA region.

- Aligns with local management in India & Senior Finance Management within EMEA, to ensure a mutual understanding of current requirements, initiatives, issues & risks. Recommends and/or implements approved changes.

- Managing the out-sourcing of complex/critical company's EMEA & global processes effectively and in accordance with the agreed business parameters.

- Include the development and/or implementation of effective processes, systems & controls that will consistently deliver results that meet contractual standards & targets (on time, cost effective, quality, accuracy, legality etc), & support business continuity/service levels.

- Development and/or implementation of effective processes, procedures & controls to ensure accurate and on time recording, processing and statutory and fiscal reporting of all financial information for India (VAT, Payroll, Expenses, local payments, scanning of invoices etc).

- Review & control ongoing results in order to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and compliance with country specific regulatory & fiscal requirements, US GAAP and SOX.

- Development and implementation of legal and workable solutions to complex tax related issues (corporate tax, VAT etc). Provides advice/support on the resolution of particularly complex or high impacting issues.

- Develop, recommend and/or implement effective control mechanisms for all finance related processes within India, in order to minimise financial risk & identify control weaknesses.

- Ensure the Management Team controls & report ongoing compliance of key operations (duty & taxes, customs penalties, Sales commission schemes, pricing etc). Identifies & addresses any potential or actual control gaps within relevant areas.

- Limit financial risk/exposure by participating in significant business initiatives (new facilities, locations, etc).

- Highlighting requirements/risks to Senior Management and securing their buy-in to Finance involvement or recommended actions.

- Analysis of requirements, establishment of effective controls and processes that correctly incorporate all relevant statutory & fiscal obligations (set up payroll, banking, contracts etc).

- Represent the company in external business discussions/negotiations relating to complex financial matters (e.g. auditors, tax specialists, government bodies etc), and in Customer events.

- Lead the Team in reviewing and approving all new local country vendor contracts and contract renewals, ensuring stability of potential vendors and minimisation of negative impact/risk resulting from the contractual terms.

- Ongoing periodic reviews of all existing contracts to ensure financial compliance of vendors, initiating corrective actions as needed.

- Manage a large departmental budget (salaries, training, travel & entertainment), together with a large outsource budget, ensuring ongoing costs are reviewed and controlled and remain within agreed budget parameters.

Profile

You are a qualified Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 15 years post qualification experience. You have in depth understanding and direct exposure of team management, stakeholder management, change management, accounting and controls. You should have excellent communication, analytical and presentation skills and the ability to verbally and in writing communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
