Senior Data Architect - BFSI (15-20 yrs)

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Sr Data Architect plays a key role in defining the data strategy & roadmap for Investment Banking group . The Data Architect will lead & supervise the development of target data architecture, design principles, quality control, and data standards.

The Data Architect works collaboratively with the Business subject matter experts and Developers to identify data needs and ensure the integrity of data in the various data domains. Will work closely with the BI team to ensure consistency in the BI reporting needs and assist with the development of BI & Analytics solutions. Will also work closely with the web development team to develop data architecture for the web applications and integrate with the data warehouse.

The Data Architect will ensure that the data flows and stores are controlled and correct, and that the representation of data is accurate and consistent. Will make sure that Data Models and Data Dictionary are up to date.

This is an independent contributor role where the individual should be a self-driven professional capable of delivering world-class technology solutions working in collaboration with various technology groups. Candidate should be fully hands-on and will be expected to solve problems and address issues by collaborating with the broader team.

Other responsibilities include:

- Providing technical mentorship and data advisory to the various application development groups across IBD technology.

- Staying conversant with the current systems/platforms and cognizant of the future technology direction.

- Working closely with other Technology groups to collaborate on specific development. Projects, coordination of software upgrades and installation of new products.

- Recognizing and identifying potential areas where existing systems, policies and procedures require improvement or change, and where new ones need to be developed to fill any existing gap.

Basic Qualifications

- MS/BS degree (Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent).

- 15+ years of total work experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in data architect / data leadership role.

- Database design and architecture experience.

- Robust data modeling skills (conceptual, logical and physical model design).

- Expertise in business intelligence, data warehousing, data profiling and data visualization required.

- Proven knowledge of data integration techniques such as data cleansing, data quality, ETL etc.

- Expertise in performance tuning & optimizing complex SQL queries.

- Well-versed with latest industry trends, standards & best practices related to data & BI platforms.

- Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a dynamic & constantly changing environment.

- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required.

- Self-driven, highly motivated, ability to work in a global environment.

- Candidate should be fully hands-on and willing to work in an individual contributor role.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in Sybase ASE and/or SQL Server.

- Experience in Business Objects and/or Sybase IQ and/or Tableau.

- Hands-On project experience with Hadoop stack.

- Experience with latest No-SQL platforms like Cassandra, mongoDB.

- Experience with application integration technologies is desired. Specific experience in Java.

- Experience with data strategy, data governance practices, data stewardship principles, data architecture principles, data standards, and metadata management best practices.

- Preference for someone who has worked with financial data or investment banking domain.
