Broad skill base; advanced knowledge of law, compliance, risk management and quality assurance; commercial acumen; seeks resolution in the best interests of the company  General:  The general responsibility of the role is to provide an in-house compliance service that effectively supports the Country Managers in meeting their OC Mandated Activities and the relevant laws, regulations and internal policies/procedures.   This includes planning, implementing and monitoring BT's compliance programme, including taking all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of the compliance programme.   Coordination of compliance audit / assurance activities and communication of expectations, improvements and remedial actions.   Compliance Specific:  1.	To act as Lead of the Compliance area within the Legal, Governance & Compliance (LGC) community in India.  2.	To manage all compliance matters that arise and affect group of companies in India on a day-to-day basis. This to include, where appropriate, the distribution of work, escalation of sensitive/high profile matters to Line Manager and other Heads of LGC, as well as the business leaders, the monitoring of work and professional standards and the production of suitable periodic reports to Line Manager and other Heads of LGC.  3.	To oversee, manage and monitor the implementation of the company's compliance program, including the roll out of the company's ethics policies  4.	To design (in conjunction with the UK compliance team and line manager) implement and manage an effective internal regional compliance assurance programme to ensure that company's global compliance program (including its policies and procedures) are operating effectively in India.   5.	To investigate complaints, concerns or breaches relating to compliance issues or company's ethics / compliance policies, either directly or in co-ordination with other departments (HR, Corporate Investigations, Security etc) and coordinate action plans or recommendations from the investigations in India. This includes breaches of the G&H policy and mandatory training requirements; as well as ensuring effective consequence management is in place via HR and appropriate records of people in breach.  6.	To conduct unannounced surveys, inspections, audits and investigations periodically to assess employee understanding, awareness and compliance to the company's ethics policies and to specifically identify where corrective actions are needed.  7.	To re-evaluate areas of previous deficiency to identify improvements or further support.  8.	To support the India Country Managers, and other appropriate executives, directors and officers in the discharge of their legal duties   9.	To report on a regular basis to the Line Manager and Regional Counsel on the compliance activities, risks and issues in India.  10.
