SIC Estate Manager

- The SAP Infrastructure CoE (SIC) is integral to this strategy, working in alignment with the ISSD functions, Innovate, Activate and Operate to provide Enterprise Solutions, Infrastructure and Geography IT with a unified gateway to the SAP Private Cloud platform in a high quality, cost and time efficient manner whilst activating world class integrated capabilities in collaboration with Innovate, Activate & Operate and in full support of Infrastructure and Service Delivery ambitions.

The Estate Manager is responsible for managing the Estate Management team (which is comprised of on and off-shore resources with split accountabilities to support project based build/delivery work, KeC Activities and capability delivery deliverables).

- The accountabilities will include the career planning (targets, objectives, timescales & training requirements), recruitment of new members, their initial and ongoing technical skills training and development programmes, quality assurance of the team's work (development & reporting of KPI- s), regular analysis and reporting of the team's activities (responsible for workload allocations & under or over utilization reporting back to Solutions Lead) and regular performance appraisals of team members.

- The Estate Manager will report into the Solutions Lead, but may well have to attend SIC LT meetings for reporting status & as part of issue resolution discussions or resource mgmt./coordination activities) - but adhoc at the request of the Solutions Lead.

- The role holder is expected to hold significant experience, having extensive knowledge of SAP Application behaviour and all underlying infrastructure (Power, SVC, Storage) as well as experience in the use and management of Estate Mgt and Capacity Analysis tools.

- The role holder will lead by example, being able to influence at a senior level, and play a key role in setting the strategy for the Private SAP Cloud in agreement with the SIC LT and in alignment with Innovate, CTO and Operate.

- The Estate Manager is expected to engage with others, both within and outside their own team, to question the consumer impact of actions/ decisions and build consumer-centric thinking.

- The Estate Manager will combine quick decision making with technical assurance to all aspects of Estate Management and the SAP Private Cloud platform and play a lead role in support of Projects, KEC and Capabilities destined for the SAP estate.

Accountabilities and responsibilities :

In this role your responsibilities will include :

- Responsible for the Estate (Capacity/Landscape) Management for the Private SAP Cloud, including ASCC, Legacy and Secondary landscapes and associated Model, Tooling and Functional (Backup) services underpinning the Private SAP Cloud.

- Sets out and drives Estate Management strategy in alignment with and in support of overall ES strategy

- Ability to influence at senior levels, both internally and externally.

- Ultimate responsibility for work of others and allocation of resources in support of SIC Estate Management activities

- Manage the team from career perspective, ensure appropriate training is received, conduct performance review of personnel, drive recruitment against known demands.

- Ensure team documentation is maintained to highest quality.

- Ensure appropriate governance/controls in place for team regards risk & issue mgmt., team reviews, demand and work assignment forums

- Keep current with core vendor technologies, act /provide consultancy to SIC team members (individually or through team)

- Maintain alignment to key stakeholders internally and externally ie SIC LT members, KEC/Project delivery, Capabilities, Solutioning. Externally - IBM, SAP, HP, Microsoft (as part of agreed strategy with SIC LT)

- Always ensure where inefficiency or simplification opportunities exist, catalog and propose changes to drive change

- Ensure cost efficiency, simplification and standards approach to all project delivery activities

- Demonstrates analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.

- Communicates fluently orally and in writing and can present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Prepared to take on challenging work outside own comfort zone

- Injects a sense of pace and urgency into the workplace, expediting decisions and getting stuff done in double-quick time; willing to address sensitive blockages without delay

- Escalation point for Estate Management issues

- Provide leadership and management support for the SIC Estate Management Function

- Ensuring estate integrity by correct placement of workloads

- Ownership and maintenance of the SAP Cloud Hosting and deployment standards including reviews and updates in line with current best practices and recommendations from third parties (IBM, SAP etc...).

- Ownership and maintenance of the SAP Private Cloud capacity calculators as the environments evolve and the deployment principles are updated.

- Collaborate with Innovate on and new system infrastructure and roadmap requirements

- Collaborate with and provide consultancy to Activate for all SAP cloud capacity requirements

- Identify, document and implement consolidation and cost avoidance opportunities

- LPM Planning, for balancing the estate and maintenance windows

- Attend technical forums as required

- Ensure decommissioning is undertaken in a timely and secure manner

- Control the complete demand funnel including all Future Forward Project activities and any KeC or Capability deliverable.

- Maintain and control all elements of Charge Back ensuring full Business/Finance Partner visibility of all charge-back opportunities.
