Role Overview

ROLE: Quality Control Manager

Company Name: For a leading Cement Plant Engineering MNC. (German Based)

Location: Nigeria

Role & Responsibility:

- Lead and guide all quality related aspects at the plant site by implementing quality management systems, quality plans and controls to achieve plant’s objectives

- Ensure the quality of products and their compliance with the standardized and contractual requirements

- In charge for the achievement of key performance indicators in the field of product quality and quality systems related agreed targets for the overall plants’ performance

- Ensure the availability of raw materials for production in cooperation with the customer

- Define and set quality targets for the production department

- Recommend and implement quality control methodologies in cooperation with the production department

- Coordinate and carry out product quality tests and recommend measures for its improvement

- Provide the necessary guidance to laboratory staff and ensure the continuous improvement of its competency

- Identify specific developmental needs and gaps of the assigned staff

- Train and develop the assigned staff to provide specific knowledge

- Control and guide the daily work and ensure the safety regarding the laboratory activities

- Implement standardized reporting functions, work instructions for optimising the process chains

- Carry out annual performance reviews of employees

- Ensure a well-organised communication of decisions and current developments of technical information and those relating to the quality between various actors

- Responsible for the implementation and updating of the quality management system for the continuous improvement of all quality related processes

- Ensure the use of necessary data analysis in order to improve the established quality system

- Secure the retention of the certification of marketed products and quality systems

- Continuous reporting to the Plant Manager

- Comply with all relevant company and statutory environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines

Requirements:

- University degree in chemical engineering or chemistry

- Several years’ experience in the cement industry as Quality Control Manager

- Profound experience in leading and guiding laboratory staff

- Sound knowledge of quality management systems, cement chemistry and cement microscopy

- Profound knowledge of product analysis methods

- Very good understanding of safety and environmental regulations

- Strategic, organisation and planning skills

- Sound communication skills, an outstanding ability to work in a team and a confident manner

- Very good MS-Office and SAP knowledge

- Business-fluent spoken and written English

- Further languages skills would be an advantage

- Willingness to travel to various locations worldwide for an extended period of time
