QI Back and Spine Clinic - Manager - Soft Skills Training (4-7 yrs)

Mumbai Job Code: 506822

Soft Skills Training :

New Joinees :

- Bringing an awareness about the Consumer's perspective during a First Consult or Treatment. In India, Back Pain is not treated with as much seriousness as a Cancer, etc. Although the repercussions can be as detrimental. Most hospitals and clinics focus on treating the pain (symptoms) rather than the cause. At QI we focus on treating the cause of the pain thus reducing the possibilities of a recurrence in the future. This requires a patient to undergo a longer period of treatment with us.

- Hence, where in other hospitals/ clinics the physiotherapists do not need to convince a patient to take up a treatment protocol or comply with the exercises, here at QI this is most needed. Our Doctors need to be made aware of this shift in mindset

- Most of our Doctors are in the 24 - 28 age category - The normal perception of a Doctor in the minds of a patient is an older and more experienced person. Thus grooming and dressing as a Doctor is of utmost importance. Bringing this awareness and setting benchmarks/ standards/ guidelines for grooming is another importance aspect of this role

Existing Doctors :

Training on Communication :

During a First Consult :

- Being able to communicate the Diagnosis to the patient (through the use of analogies), thus educating him/ her about the condition better is important for the patient to understand the need/ urgency of the treatment.

- Setting and communicating the right expectations from the treatment protocol with the patient is the next most important part of the First Consult. The patient must be clear on what to expect out of the treatment in-order to avoid any over-expectations

- Convincing the patient to take up the treatment protocol by doing the above effectively

During treatment :

- Driving the importance for a Doctor to reinforce the progress made by the patient during the treatment sessions. The patient must know the small improvements s/he has made in-order for him/ her to stay motivated throughout the treatment

- Training the doctors to assert the importance of compliance to the treatment with the patient without sounding rude - Strengthening the back muscles requires continuous and consistent effort. This means a certain number of treatment sessions within a specific time period. If these sessions happen over a longer period with gaps and breaks in between then the purpose of the treatment is lost. This must be asserted with the patients

Leadership Training :

Clinic Heads :

- The first step towards being an effective Manager is to effectively 'Manage Self' - This would mean Managing your work, Managing your emotions/ responses, Managing your time, Managing your behaviours etc. This requires them to be Self aware (Strengths/ weaknesses) and aware of the expectations from the role being played. Based on this, they must be trained to manage themselves better.

- The next step is to effectively Manage the team reporting into them and get the work done - This would mean Planning and Organising the work in the clinic, Assigning responsibilities (Delegations), Setting expectations and reviewing performance with the team, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Mentoring/ Coaching etc.

- Zonal Heads/ Zonal Patient Relationship Managers/ Area Business Managers

- This will be phase 2

- Driving Culture & Communication

- Working closely with the Leadership Team on driving the specific aspects of Culture across the organisation.

- Being spread across multiple locations; Communication (without losing the intent) becomes one of our biggest challenges. Driving communication (includes training the Managers to communicate effectively) through various mediums is another aspect of this role.
