Job Title : Asst Manager - Research  Reports to : Manager - Research / Deputy Manager - Research  Scope of Role :   GHO, Prudential UK, Prudential Corporation Asia, M&G, JNL  Key departments / areas of responsibility : Business research  Job Dimensions :   Financial :  The role has no financial responsibilities.  Non Financial :  This role may have direct reports basis given assignments and will work under a Project lead (DM/Mgr)  Overall Job Purpose :   - Using secondary research to analyze Market, Competition, Customers, Distribution, Regulation and Products of Insurance industry to highlight findings and recommendation to clients in the form of reports or presentation decks.   - The role could also require basic financial analysis and modelling  - Stakeholder management - Lead discussions, manage expectations, generate leads/ideas for increase in support  - Delivery management - Responsible for delivering high quality output, both individually and through a team  - This role will also have an increased focus on digital/emerging trends/disruptions/FinTech/InsurTech topics from a research perspective  Accountabilities/Responsibilities :   - Access secondary databases & free web to collate & synthesise information based on business requirements  - Analysing data on market, industry and competitors, disruptors of Prudential and ensuring structure, content, timelines etc. are as per stakeholder specifications  - Analyse and interpret business model and financial accounts/health, of key competitors/disruptors and provide strategic insights.  - Manage projects and reports independently for structure and scope as per stakeholder requirements  - Analyse macro-environment, industry dynamics & track competitors- financial performance  - Develop country reports with focus on market entry strategy  - Providing research, data, ideas and materials for presentations and briefings given (internally and externally)  - Support in developing ideas to improve and streamline all aspects relating to the sourcing, evaluation and the distribution of information by exploiting the use of tools such as the Internet, and existing databases  - Maintain a watching brief over developing/emerging trends to provide early warning of issues or opportunities  - Interact with stakeholders on project deliverables and establish regular communication with them  - Mentoring & managing deliverables of junior team members in terms of quality and timelines   - Handle stakeholder feedback on deliverables and maintain project level interactions  - Maintain proper documentation/ repository of deliverables and stakeholder communication  - To demonstrate a positive risk, compliance and control culture through the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of risks and issues within the business area, alongside ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, actions and failures that arise.  Key Interfaces (please detail purpose and level of contact) :   Internal :   - Manager - Research  - Deputy Manager  - Stakeholders (GHO, PRU UK)  Competence / Knowledge / Skills required :   Knowledge :   - Good understanding of the Financial Services industry and Insurance/Asset Management in particular  - Prior experience of working on digital/insurtech areas will be preferable  - Basic knowledge of financial analysis  - Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint  Skills :  - 4+ years experience in Financial Research/ Business Research/Consulting/ Analysis   - Project Management  - Ability to think strategically by looking at the big picture, joining the dots and providing insights  - Ability to lead a team to deliver report within timelines and quality parameters  - Stakeholder Management  - Experience of working with research tools and databases  - Highly numerate, being able to work through and deal with complex concepts and data  - Analytical skills in order to interpret and translate large volumes of complex market, product and company information into concise and accurate summaries as required  - Strong communication skills  - Good planning and prioritising skills  - Good written English and report writing skills.  Behaviours :   - Attention to detail   - Self starter
