Procurement Officer - Engineering & Capital Goods/Packaging Materials

Procurement Officer - with exp in Engineering, Capital Goods & Packaging Materials - Chennai

Roles & responsibilities :

- Locate vendors locally or internationally to source primarily engineering goods, and evaluate them in order to determine product availability, and terms of sales.

- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

- Writing of various contracts with suppliers as per company policies.

- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials

- Prepare comparison charts of the various suppliers cost.

- Administer on-line purchasing systems, reverse bidding etc.

- Should be well versed with the export procedures and laws

Qualification :

- Full time four years degree course in Mechanical or electrical engineering (only institutes like NITs, State funded colleges, top notch private colleges)

- Full time PG diploma or master's degree in supply chain or general management

Experience :

Minimum 5-10 years of experience in purchasing of engineering & capital goods

Essential skills & requirement :

- Candidate must have working experience on SAP MM module

- Travel about 20%

- Well versed in export and import documentation

- Vendor evaluation and negotiation skills

Work Location : Chennai. The role will require traveling across India.
