Principal Program Manager - IT Product Company (8-15 yrs)

Main Purpose

To manage & lead projects and programmes to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilizing the necessary resources and skills, with effectively managing cost, timescales, quality & communication. This should be achieved by working within the company standard project management and project control processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of Group IT - Core Application Projects/Programmes and actively participates in all phases of the project.

- Ensure efficient risk management by identification, detail assessment and appropriate mitigation of each risk to the success of the project.

- Lead requirement analysis workshop within the project teams to define precise & high quality requirements

- Engages with the stakeholders at all levels in the business to gather requirements objectively whilst sensitively challenging the business to separate - wants- from - needs-

- Effectively estimates & monitor costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of project(s) to agreed terms of reference and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances.

- Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate.

- Should have a proven track record in problem solving, engineering excellence, project management, and an ability to drive results through influence.

- Demonstrated ability to use data to influence & drive decisions

- Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions to the project (s) from the project sponsor

Job Description

- Provides effective leadership to the allocated project team ensuring that team members and stakeholders are motivated. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business

- Ensures that on completion, projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learnt are captured and actioned. Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes.

- Evaluates and makes recommendations./decisions on technical options as appropriate

- Should be pro-active, shows an ability to see the big picture and can prioritize the right work items to optimize the overall team output.

- Implement a clearly defined and transparent schedule of commitments and metrics to consistently meet the project goals

Experience

- Minimum of 8+ of years of experience

- Should have development experience/ worked as a Developer earlier

- Good Hands on experience on Java or SQL & should have design Skills

- Experience of project management techniques and tools is essential

- Significant experience working with large and complex IT Projects

- Qualified in or have proven experience using recognised project management and Development methods (e.g. Prince 2, APM, Agile)

- Hands- on experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives

- Experience in a large multinational corporate environment essential

Education

- Post Graduate or B-TEC level qualification in a related discipline such as Computing, Business Information Systems etc.

- Excellent written and spoken English.
