Role Title - Portfolio Analyst

Job Location: Hyderabad & Bangalore (Multiple openings)

Hiring Firm: Largest Multinational Bank in India (Technology and Services Division)

Experience: 4-8 years

Role Purpose

- The Portfolio Analyst role acts in support of the Portfolio Manager to achieve efficient, effective and active management of the Change Delivery’s orderbook or a sub-set of Change Delivery’s portfolio.

- The value of this role should be measured in light of the sustainable savings, magnitude of the portfolio, the size of the Change Delivery team and of the Portfolio team.

- The primary objective of Change Delivery team is to manage and put in place jointly with business areas a process to achieve savings which meet the sustainable savings challenge and the successful implementation of programmes.

- This role supports well-reasoned decisions in matters of strategic, organizational, operational, and technological investment and alignment through involvement in some of the following

- monitoring and tracking progress across the portfolio of programmes and projects including programmes and projects to achieve the savings outlined in the overall departmental objectives

- providing adequate analysis on overall balance and trending of the portfolio

- providing high value analysis on the resources mobilized to deliver the portfolio

- reviewing traffic lights through scrutiny and challenge for enhanced predictability of delivery in terms of time, cost and requirements –leading to better resource management and relationships with business

- ensuring project/programme approaches and delivery are in line with Group standards

- bringing visibility and escalation to progress, issues/problems and failure

- delivering precise and timely information management and reporting

- identifying disseminating best practices

- The jobholder has to have a combined set of excellent interpersonal skills, business, operations and technology knowledge combined with strong knowledge of the project/programme lifecycle and financial acumen in order to develop effective relationship with the business and provide sound consultancy that adds commercial values to the business.

- The portfolio holds a large number of disparate programmes / projects that need to be tracked and managed, together with a wide number of stakeholders and departments across the business.

- High pace and extreme diversity of the tasks.

- The need to be able to firmly identify the benefits realised on a particular project and obtain verification from finance that these have been implemented.

- Competing demands from the portfolio team and other Change Delivery teams can make timelines for reporting tight against a background of challenging expectations from senior and executive management.

- Contribute to demonstrate value add of the Portfolio team.

Role Context

- The jobholder work under supervision however is expected to work independently and has high level of flexibility to consult with other Change Delivery stakeholders and beyond (SWD, ITO, support functions). He/she is expected to work autonomously and prioritise his/her activities to meet all deadlines with deliverables of the highest quality.

- As an Individual Contributor, he/she will need to have the ability to work closely with and get support from IT Development, Operations, Information Security and Planning and Finance arms of the organization regionally and in some cases globally.

- The job holder will be expected to make appropriate decisions and using a range of interpersonal skills to build up effective working relationships with the programme managers and relevant external colleagues.

Qualifications

- Typically qualifications would include an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Science, Business Administration or a related field.

Experience

The Portfolio Analyst must have few years of experience and command skills related to either project management, process reengineering, business consulting or financial analysis

- Overall financial services industry knowledge with specific functional expertise

- Basic knowledge of business case and PMO

- Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders

- Working across cultures

Professional standards (skills and behaviours)

- Very strong analytical skills

- Decision making and problem solving skills.

- General knowledge of finance and accounting

- Good planning, organisation and time management skills together with an ability to approach tasks in a logical and methodical manner.

- Knowledge or exposure to the project management project lifecycle or consulting techniques, reengineering methodologies

- Basic knowledge of methods (RBPM) processes and tools (e.g Clarity)

- Proven ability to prioritise competing demands

- Excellent English written & verbal communication skills, other languages an advantage

- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access)
