Principal Consultant – Pharmaceuticals – IIM/ISB

PerformEdge Consulting (high growth start-up founded by ex-McKinsey consultant) - Gurgaon (India)

Job Description

Summary of position:

- The person will lead the Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences verticaland will be responsible for execution of in-hand management consulting projects (70%-80% of time) and for business development in pharma space (20%-30% of time).

Detailed responsibilities/tasks:

1. Lead execution of management consulting project(s) in-hand in the pharma space, managing 2-4 member teams, in client facing situtations

2. Build and strengthen relationships on a day-to-day basis with senior (C-suite) clients. This involves directly working with the Promotor(s) of the client company

3. Structure complex business problem/issues into manageable components for team members and manage delivery - timeline, quality of output, client buy-in, resource management

4. Own responsibility for output to the client from the project - usually improvement in a business parameter such as revenues, costs

5. Lead hiring additional team members

6. Lead business development activities - publications, PR, social media and appropriate forums

7. Own responsibility for building up the cultural elements for the start-up: Young & innovative, Accelerated Learning & Mentoring and above all a FUN environment

Education: MBA from one of these institutes - IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS, MDI, SPJain, JBIMS; or equivalent outside India

Type of role: Permanent; at least 1 year commitment required

Location: Gurgaon/Delhi with some domestic travel as required

Compensation: uptoINR30lacs per annum CTC out of which 50% is performance linked variable pay – we get paid on client impact and share the upside with our partners

Experience and skills:

Experience in sales/marketing/operations management/business development in Pharmaceuticals industry is a must. Prior P&L ownership desirable

- Performance record of increasing sales for the company through innovative tactics

- Proven track record of managing & mentoring teams and building long lasting client relationships

- Very strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to break complex problems into simpler issues

- Creation and implementation of market analysis; marketing strategy and marketing plans

- Market development &expansion

- Channel management, new product launch &management

- Business unit team leadership- inspiring & directing sales, marketing & medical teams

- P&L management

- High creativity (examples of impactful solutions implemented in a resource constraint environment required)

- Impact orientation - willingness to manage team and work with tight deadlines, not necessarily through long working hours and create business impact

- Excellent communication skills - oral and written (drafting, presentations)

- Solid command over basic analytical tools such as Excel

- Self starter, hands-on approach and high motivation, with minimal supervision required

- Strong business acumen and judgment

- Willingness and desire to work in an unstructured environment (of a start-up)

- Desired experience: BU head in a pharma company with responsibility for at least INR 50 crore of turnover/project manager in a management consulting company / operations lead in a start-up focused on healthcare

- Minimum 4 years of experience with above mentioned capabilities
