Oracle - Solution Engineering Manager - Big Data (10-15 yrs)

Position Description

Are you interested in being part of a new start-up organization inside Oracle- We are building a next generation Solution Engineering organization in Bangalore. The mission of the organization and this center is to build and engineer cutting-edge solutions for our customers around cloud computing, big data analytics, mobile computing, internet of things, cyber security. Additional trends we are considering to investing in are Artificial Intelligence, Augmented and Virtual Reality and many other exciting technology trends that interest us all. And so, we are seeking people who share that spirit of using technology to innovate and solve big problems.

As the Manager of a Solution Engineering team, you will have responsibility for managing a team of Solution Engineers, located inside a Solution Engineering Center (a physical hub of solution engineers). You will own Solution Engineering delivery for Information Management solutions and opportunities. You are expected to be a strong leader and deeply knowledgeable in the areas of multi-tenant scalable database architectures, data warehousing, and big data management systems. You should be familiar with modern data architectures around relational, unstructured and NoSQL technologies. You should understand best practices around how to store, manage, secure, partition and analyze large data sets. This team under you will own all solution engineering and innovations for Oracle's Data Management and Big Data cloud services. The Solution Engineering Managers will be measured on key metrics around revenue, pipeline, new innovations, talent development and customer success in this space.

Preferred Requirements

3+ years experience as a leader of pre-sales or customer-facing team of software engineers and/or developers

3+ years experience working to engineer and develop database and information management solutions

Experience with Agile and SCRUM-based projects or working with rapid and iterative technical design/implementation projects

Understand DevOps and software development lifecycles

Can manage successful delivery of a portfolio of customer engagements

Know how to maintains a culture of team collaboration and knowledge-sharing

Strong mentor for top and rising talent in the team

Strong client-facing and project management skills

What is your experience with building large mission critical databases and data warehousing solutions- Provide some examples of your work and projects on top of relational and non-relational data platforms.

Do you have first-hand experience with migrating database workloads to the cloud-

High energy and highly motivated leader with a technical and pre-sales background

Motivated to coach, mentor managers, and individual contributors

Great communicator of Solution Engineering services and value to external audiences (Oracle sales teams, customers, and partners)

Comes with some Cloud vendor experience (e.g. Amazon Redshift, Microsoft SQL, MongoDB, Google, IBM).

Recent start-up experience is a plus.
