Media Planning Manager - Pharma (5-8 yrs)
The media planning manager supports brand management by developing and executing holistic media plans for consumer reach and awareness, in a cost-effective manner. The job will require a combination of ‘media planning’ as well as on-the-ground ‘media execution’, with help from Agencies wherever applicable. He/she will responsible for developing the media buying and execution capabilities of the organization. In addition to traditional media, he/she will also be responsible for continuously exploring new and innovative, disruptive and effective forms of reaching communication to consumer and shoppers – out-of-home (OOH), Digital for all forms of paid, owned and earned media (search, social media, outdoors, mobile etc).
The media planning manager reports to the Marketing Head. He/she works very closely with media planning agencies and brand management teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive Strategic Communication leadership via targeted reach across meaningful touch-points based on Target Audience (Television, print, store, OOH, Digital)
- Proactively identify media opportunities for brand management based on TA media consumption habits & industry evolution
- Co-create media buying and implementation plan with marketing head
- Coordinate launch of media campaigns with marketing, communications, and sales
- Manage media pricing through negotiated strategic & tactical plans and relationship management
- Monitor and hold Media Agency efficacy accountable for deliverables (# GRPs realized vs. planned, cost per GRP)
- Manage media budgets effectively and efficiently via optimizing media mix to maximize return-on-marketing-investment (ROMI)
- Actively explore cutting-edge digital/social media opportunities
- Develop organization’s media planning and implementation capabilities
- Key Metrics – Media Implementation OTIF, Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI), Reach & Frequency delivered vs. plan, CPRP
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: MBA from reputed Indian/Global business school
Work Experience: 5-6 years of FMCG/Telecom Media Buying/Planning experience (Nice to have combination of media buying and experience in brand management in FMCG/Consumer healthcare). Candidates from top FMCG companies preferred.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in developing media strategy for the overall business and convert that into media planning
- Experience in actual media buying and execution (appointing media agency)
- Strong understanding of consumer media viewing habits and trends
- Demonstrated ability to have leveraged digital/social media platforms
- Experience in national as well as regional media
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills with media agencies
- Strong understanding of brand management
- Network and process management
- Ability to work in entrepreneurial setups
- High external orientation and good understanding of consumer and shopper trends, understanding of Consumer Healthcare trends / insights is an added advantage, but not mandatory
- Strong demonstrated ability to manage and get high performance from media agencies
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
