Department overview :

- Markit's Private Equity (PE) service provides independent valuation and performance reporting solutions to investors in unlisted equity and private placement or hard to value debt. It delivers a range of solutions for managers and investors of alternative assets, including company, share price, illiquid debt and stock option valuations as well as income attribution, methodology reviews, AIFMD valuation options and risk-adjusted performance reporting with peer group comparisons.

- Markit PE team sits within the Information division of Markit, one of three divisions of the global parent.

Position summary :

- The role requires the candidate to have excellent organizational / coordination skills and strong business analysis skills especially around Private Equity and Financial Markets. The successful candidate should be process oriented and have a thorough understanding of product development lifecycle.

- The candidate should have prior experience delivering large system projects and system changes (BAU) and should have exposure to multiple software development delivery methodologies. The candidate should be comfortable in a fast paced environment and be flexible to adapt to changes.

- We are looking for a Business Analyst who will be the vital link between our information technology capability and business objectives by supporting and ensuring the successful completion of analytical, building, testing and deployment tasks of our software product's features.

- Candidate will need to closely work with stakeholders in defining business requirements and drive project requirement meetings.

Duties & accountabilities :

- Understand the business need from product managers, operations managers, business users

- Production of detailed business and functional/non-functional requirement specifications from initial requirements documents, existing systems, previous drafts, SME interviews and requirements workshops. These should demonstrate the ability to use a broad range of business analysis skills, methodologies and techniques including gap analysis, feasibility studies, use case modelling, etc.

- Design, build and update mock-ups / prototypes of the product based on requirements and workshops

- Assisting in user experience workshops or UX design / requirement gathering and documentation

- Defineproject scope, obtain Dev. and QA estimates based on scope and compile overall project plan.

- Monitor project progress (status, risks and issues), maintain Issue Log and work on risk / issue mitigation plan.

- Obtain sign-off for major new feature(s) related requirements involving complex system changes.

- Actively communicate project milestones, project progress, risks and issues to key stakeholders.

- Work closely with Dev /QA to ensure implementation meets requirements and mitigate risks in overall project execution to enable completion of project per committed scope, timelines, and allocated resources and with high quality.

- Create Release Notes, User Guide/Process Manuals and drive the UAT phase.

- Focus on innovation - come up with new ideas to bring additional efficiency and new functionality that will make system easier to use.

- Ability to work across different stakeholders and priorities and get everyone on-boarded with the overall prioritization of product backlog/roadmap items.

- Able to conduct public presentation of concepts and ideas comfortably

Business competencies :

Education and experience : Bachelor's degree in the field of technology required and 6+ years of prior experience as a Business Analyst

- IIBA, CBAP or related business analysis qualification desired

- Prior experience with Private Equity and Financial Market's platform will be a plus. Should understand industry requirements like IPEV, ILPA etc.

- Thorough understanding of the software development life-cycle

- Well experienced with Agile-scrum based product development life cycle and be able to perform product owner cum scrum master role per the needs of the situation, experience working with Jira will be a plus

- Experience in managing and delivering successful and complex technology projects

- Understanding of XML Schemas, DTDs, XSL Transformation style sheets would be beneficial

- Good understanding of Databases/SQL/Programming languages/Application & Web Servers

- Techno-Functional focus - be able to understand technology, and articulate business requirements in such a manner that they are clearly understood by technical developers & QA persons. Similarly, be able to articulate technical jargon (from dev/QA team members) into business friendly verbiage to strike a balance

Commercial awareness : Experience in the financial markets and an understanding of private equity terms and principals is required for the role.
