Market Data Business Analyst with a major focus on managing all market data business requirements relating to XXX Shared Services as part of a wider Market Data team. Shared Services represent a collection of XXX Group wide functions, such as Global Risk, IT, Finance, Legal and Compliance, which operate outside the main XXX business divisions.   The team works closely with a number of business units to provide an efficient, timely and cost effective solution to meet market data needs and requirements. The candidate will be in an internal customer facing role and will need to manage and deliver customer requirements through:   - Working closely with the business to understand the requirements and advise on best options available  - Provide transparent reporting to the business on market data spend, budget and usage  - Market data vendor liaison to renew and procure services and to fill any gaps in current record keeping   Responsibilities include:  - Business Relationship Management - maintain a strong relationship with the customer, understanding their business, focus and requirement and providing the optimum solution.  - Service Provision - ensure services are delivered in a timely fashion following the global processes in place for end to end delivery eg/ DACS, MDM  - Cost Management - ensure the business is kept aware of their market data usage / cost to ascertain potential cost saving opportunities, through evaluation of unused services, through effective negotiation with vendors or through consolidation and sharing.  - Vendor Management - working within the agreed operating model together with the global vendor management team, ensuring all market data contracts are negotiated, renewed or cancelled through the detailed analysis of usage, requirement and contract value. Ensure all signed contracts are updated in MDM.  - Administration - working closely with the Market Data Processing team in India, assume responsibility for the monthly allocation of market data costs ensuring accuracy and transparency and for the integrity of the Market Data held within MDM.  - Projects - ownership for the delivery of market data projects, including product updates, vendor product rollouts, cost savings initiatives and various adhoc projects.  - Control - manage data use from a compliance perspective ensuring all contractual obligations and licenses are adhered to and communicated to the business with effective operational control processes in place.  Management of Market Data Provision:  - Understanding and communicating business requirements and delivering timely and accurate solutions and efficient support in line with overall market data strategies  - Identifying and communicating suitable sources of data leveraging existing agreements/relationships wherever possible and ensuring internal clients are aware of all options  - Provide quotes and obtain business authorization for all new Market Data costs in accordance with internal procurement procedures  Inventory, Administration and Budget Management  - Achieve highest possible standard of inventory accuracy and monthly costs and savings reporting   - Understand and advise on the allocation of instrument pricing and reference data costs across all consumers including inventory clean-up and ongoing maintenance  - Prepare Market Data budget working with business to understand future requirements/projects and their impact on budget and cost allocation  - Work with internal invoicing teams to resolve invoice queries   Strategic Business Relationship Management  - Regular meetings with business units to understand requirements and ownership of these meetings to include distributing notes and assigning follow up actions  - Communication of business requirements at a holistic level to internal teams and Shared Services / Market Data management   - Promote where relevant licensing restrictions on contracts communicating compliance of usage and impacts of any potential breaches  - Communication where relevant of Group policies and processes relating to procurement and vendor risk management as set out in the Operations FIM  Vendor Relationship Management   - Front to back management of all vendor contracts unique to Shared Services  - Awareness of pricing models and typical restrictions imposed by all vendors  Support for Shared Services   - Provide market data business liaison support for Shared Services  - Sourcing of data for Shared Services strategic projects and day to day activities  - Subject matter expert on all market data related issues for Shared Services  - Work with business and internal groups to analyse and monitor variable charges on usage based services to ensure optimum efficiencies and reduce costs where necessary  - Increase efficiencies for processing of invoices for usage based services  - Develop expertise in allocation of instrument pricing and reference data costs across all consumers  - Build and develop strategic business relationships particularly with relevant architecture/system owners/experts  - Prepare and execute site visits to spend time with all data consumers with a view to increasing knowledge of data dependencies and utilization of data  - Establish regular business meetings to maintain good relationships and approach requirements as proactively as possible  - Develop an understanding of major contractual restrictions and be able to advise the business proficiently on any related queries  - Streamline/standardise index performance requests and renewals   - Identify and communicate internally any potential breaches of vendor agreements or risks associated with data consumption  - Develop a strong understanding of pricing models associated with instrument pricing and reference data  Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder's abilities)  - Business requirements and subsequent workload/effort are largely driven by external client demand  - Complexities of system dependencies and appropriate licensing associated with servicing external clients  - Ensure database integrity for all contracts / renewal costs and tracking accuracy  Part of the GB&M Chief Data Office Market Data Team providing business analysis, vendor relationship and contract management for all XXX's market data vendors across all business units globally  Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)  - Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.  Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)  - Maintains XXX internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.  - Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy  - Follows Group policies and processes relating to procurement and vendor risk management as set out in the Operations FIM.  Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)  - Extensive knowledge of Market Data products and ideally MDM  - Broad understanding of data licensing requirements for financial services activities  - Highly motivated to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in all relevant areas   - Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work inline with wider strategies  - Excellent communications skills both written and verbal for discussions and communication at all levels  - Good understanding of the commercial terms and conditions of the major market data vendors  - Substantial Market Data Analyst experience
