Manager -Valuation Fixed Income Securities & Structured finance products (Transaction Advisory Services)

We support several key valuation areas, including Business Valuation, Investment Portfolio Valuation and Capital Equipment Valuation. The team works on a range of valuation methodologies such as DCF, Purchase Price Allocation, Relative Valuation, Options Valuation, etc. We also help with secondary research for business valuation engagements and business development activities, such economy and industry research, company research and benchmarking exercises.

We are currently setting up support services for valuation of complex securities, i.e. fixed income securities and structured finance products, including derivatives, options, warrants etc. For this purpose, we are looking for professionals with strong knowledge and experience in fixed income and structured finance valuation.

The types of valuation you may be involved include:

- Fairness opinions

- Valuation advice in connection with acquisitions and disposals

- Dispute resolution

- Commercial and strategic valuations

- Valuation advice related to accounting requirements (impairment tests and purchase price allocations)

- Bid defence work

- Valuation for tax purposes

We work across a variety of industries, including Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities, Telecom, Hospitality, Financial Services, Entertainment, Food and Beverages, IT and Metals and Mining.

Job description:

The main objective of the role is to manage complex valuation engagements, mainly in the area of fixed income / structured finance products; develop and manage teams with skills required to support these valuation services; and achieve business growth by developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers.

The successful candidate will be required to perform extensive hands-on work on engagements. Hence, the span of team management in this set-up phase of these services may be limited.

Primary responsibilities and accountabilities:

- Work on and lead several medium-to-high complexity valuation engagements

- Lend specific subject matter knowledge and provide team members with accurate and useful guidance in technical areas of high risk and complexity

- Produce assignment budgets and timetables, and manage delivery against them

- Focus team on key priorities and ensure smooth service delivery within the defined competency/geographical area

- Assign people to projects based on their skills, career goals and client’s expectations

- Partner with internal and external clients to improve processes

- Work with project leaders to analyze resource needs and gaps, and devise alternative ways forward

- Generate new business opportunities by developing ideas and solutions

- Develop long-term relationships, both internally and with clients (Global practice offices)

- Responsible for goal setting, performance appraisal and professional development of counselees and the larger team

- Identify and plan for L&D needs of team members

- Be a positive leader and mentor to team members

Competencies / skills:

- In-depth understanding of financial and valuation principles

- Experience in valuing complex securities, including fixed income securities, options, warrants, structured products and other derivatives. Experience should include working on option pricing theory, fixed income and structured finance models, Monte Carlo simulation, statistical analysis, and other techniques from the financial engineering literature

- Well-versed with various valuation techniques and methodologies, including DCF, Purchase Price Allocation, Market Comparables etc.

- Knowledge of accounting standards, including US GAAP and IFRS, mainly in respect of their relevance to valuation

- PC proficiency, including financial engineering or statistical software package (eg. Matlab or Stata), Bloomberg, MS Excel/VBA, Word, and PowerPoint

- Advanced knowledge of using various research databases like CapitalIQ, Factset, Factiva, Thomson etc.

- Excellent analytical, project management and teamwork competencies

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Proven business development and marketing techniques, and ability to pursue and close business growth opportunities

The successful candidate must be committed to staying at the cutting edge of both, latest derivative valuation techniques and the financial and accounting standards that guide the use of these techniques.

Education & Experience:

- MBA/PG Diploma (Finance) or Chartered Accountant/CPA, with 7-12 years of experience, majority of which should be in fixed income / structured finance valuation, and equity valuation

- Experience with any of the Big 4 firms, leading investment banks / their shared service centers, or best-practice knowledge service organizations is desirable
