Job description:

- This role will require the candidate to work directly with the Chief Investment Officer of a leading Financial Services firm in the US.

- The selected candidate will work closely with the CIO and the investment team to review specific securities with a view to help the client take investment decisions.

This will include:

- Presenting an investment thesis to the CIO, detailing the risks and rewards of potential investments

- Building detailed credit models (historical and forecasts) including valuation using approaches such as DCF, DDM, Trading and transaction multiples, EVA, etc.

- Write earning notes, quarterly updates, coverage reports, sector reports, newsletters, event updates, theme-based reports, etc.

- Providing ongoing coverage on securities on which research has been initiated once

- Financial statement analysis using company filings and databases including Bloomberg

- Developing company's operating metrics in conjunction with their relevance in different sectors/ companies

- Analyze capital structure and analyze debt based on seniority and maturity, review covenants, peer comparison, etc.

- Review reports published by rating agencies

- Prepare industry write-ups / reports

- Listening to and summarizing investment conference calls

- Handling adhoc research requests as per client requirements

For each security, the analyst will be expected to conduct a detailed analysis covering all relevant aspects which may affect an investment - this may involve analyzing a security from both a credit and equity perspective depending on the specific investment decision that the client in trying to make.

- The role involves an extremely high level of interaction with senior stakeholders on an ongoing basis wherein the selected candidate will be required to present their analysis to the client and discuss the overall investment thesis in a detailed manner.

Skill Set Required:

- Total experience of 7-8 years with a minimum of 4-5 years of relevant credit research experience

- Excellent communication skills: Ability to engage senior stakeholders in discussions and be able to present one’s point of view, challenge assumptions, present and defend investment thesis

- Ability to work on unstructured problems and be able to independently suggest different approaches for analyzing investment scenarios.

- Ability to identify and solve issues effectively on time, eye for details

- Excellent MS Office Skills

- Strong Accounting and financial skills

- Challenging current thinking by implementing new ways of working

- Ability to practice attentive and active listening skills

- Basic knowledge of macroeconomics aggregates

- Ability to ensure that tasks within areas of responsibility are completed in a timely manner

- Ability to identify pro-active ways to contribute to firms goals & mission

- Knowledge of database tools - Bloomberg, Reuters and other financial data systems
