NOTE: Please read the entire JD carefully and apply   Quality Engineering team at a leading Hadoop data platform company is looking for talented and passionate Lead/Manager SQE Automation Engineer, to deliver continuous improvement of opensource Hadoop and the other products that we provide to their customers. You will do this through your deep understanding of automation tools, test methodologies for distributed software, and customer focus.   This position is for a hard worker who likes challenges, and is constantly striving to improve the WAY work is done - both QE and Dev. You will have visibility in the prestigious Apache opensource community, and the opportunity to build a public reputation for your contributions.  Responsibilities include:  - Develop maintainable test automation frameworks, tools and automated test suites, in response to growing feature set and customer requirements.  - Work with the opensource community to scale up test automation practices, and provide robust releases.  - Develop, set up, maintain and enhance production staging environments and tools.  - Help tune production cluster configurations, and debug system level deployment issues.  - Develop automated test cases on a day-to-day basis  - Provide technical guidance in automation test, methodologies, processes, tools, and techniques within the team and across the teams.  - Prepare and present status updates for various projects.  - Gather and prioritize users- requirements, feed these requirements into overall Automation Framework requirements and test plans  - Train team members on tool use and test automation/performance best practices  - Collaborate with our Engineering teams on best practices, process changes, standards, etc. as part of continuous process improvement.  - Communicate cross-functionally throughout the engineering organization  - Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to QE engineers  - Must be able to deliver on all requirements  - Hire and mentor a world class QE engineering team to support testing of maintenance releases and current releases.  Minimum Job Qualifications:  - Demonstrated commitment to best practices in SQA and software development, including modern CI processes and automating EVERYTHING. Comfortable with Agile/Scrum processes and code review.  - Strong experience in Automated SQA practice in a Linux application development environment (preferably with Enterprise-class applications).  - Preference to have at least one scripting language (Python, bash, or comparable). You have to be able to actually script useful programs, with ease and expertise.  - Strong knowledge of API-level client/server testing in Java, not just Web Services testing.  - Strong knowledge of current quality engineering and test automation tools and processes, including JUnit, Jenkins, Mockito, GIT, and Clover, or comparable products and familiarity with the next generation of tools that will replace these.  - Strong Leaderships skills along with an ability to grow and motivate engineers to reach their potential  - An ability to manage across functional boundaries  - Excellent communications and technical presentation skills  - A drive to ensure our test coverage meets the needs and requirements of our Customers  - An ability to define and roll-out streamlined processes  - Bachelor's degree or better in CS or related field, with 8+ years experience in software test development, automation tools development, and/or data center administration with at least 3 years in a management related role   Preferred Qualifications:  - Experience configuring and utilizing Amazon Web Services for cloud computing.  - Experience with Hadoop and associated projects.  - Experience with performance testing, stress testing, and advanced aspects of system testing automation.  - Experienced with testing, debugging, and deploying software for highly scaled cluster applications, involving thousands of servers, or enterprise applications involving large data centers.  - System administration experience with a 24x7, high-availability production environment.
