Manager/Senior Manager - Buyer - Commodity Sourcing/Supply Chain - FMCG

Position: Manager / Sr. Manager - Supply Chain (2 Positions)

Both positions will be based in Chennai and report to the VP - Supply Chain. Each position will head a particular Category. One of the categories will be Plant Proteins which will include Soya, Wheat Flour, Corn Gluten and other plant based proteins and nutrients. The other category will be Animal Proteins which will include Fish Meal, Fish Oil, dry shrimp and other marine ingredients. Each position will be responsible for a spend of around Rs. 150 Cr.

Profile: Someone in the age bracket of 36-38 years and preferably an MBA from a second tier institute.

Competencies/skills/deliverables for the role:

- Solid experience of 10-12 years minimum in merchandising/buying/trading in commodities like Soya, Wheat, Corn, Rice, Oilseeds, Animal Proteins like Fish Meal, Fish Oil etc. in Feeds / Foods & Beverages / Trading / FMCG industry.

- Understanding of commodity markets value chain - crop dynamics, quality, supply & demand, industry competitiveness, international markets etc. in the Grains & Oilseeds space and Fish Meal / marine ingredients space.

- Understanding and preferably some basic working experience in commodity exchanges like NCDEX, MCX in terms of hedging, futures trading etc.

- Strong understanding and experience of commodity mandis, commission agents, system of auction, taxes etc. in mandis in the Grains & Oilseeds space.

- Strong industry knowledge and existing network of suppliers, traders/brokers that can be leveraged.

- Strong negotiation/commercial/analytical/communication/presentation skills.

- Good interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and lead teams.

- Working knowledge of the SAP environment, esp. in the Materials Management module.

- Strong work ethics and ability/willingness to stretch beyond the routine

Candidates currently based in Chennai or those from South and willing to be based in Chennai are preferred.
