Salary offered: 12 - 15 LPA  ORGANIZATION  Jayn Knowledgeum  BACKGROUND ABOUT THE PROJECT  Jain Group of Institutions (henceforth referred to as JGI Group) is an education provider and an entrepreneurship incubator in India. The Group successfully operates 85 educational institutions with 60,000 students and 6,450 employees engaged at the K-12, undergraduate and postgraduate levels spread across 64 campuses pan India.  JGI group is now planning to increase its schools footprint (currently 28 K-12 schools) by adopting an asset-light model of expansion. In the next five years, JGI Group looks to add about 70 - 75 new schools in urban areas spread across 6-7 states. The group has formed a new venture, Jayn Knowledgeum, to set up these K-12 schools - either through company's own operations or via the franchising route. Jayn Knowledgeum would launch new brand(s) of K-12 schools in the market. It will offer a varied set of services to franchise/strategic partners such as school set-up assistance, curriculum and pedagogy support, teacher training and professional development support, technology solution for school administration, assistance in recruitment of principal and senior teachers, and assistance in other areas of school operations.  POSITION: Finance Manager  LOCATION: Bangalore  POSITION DESCRIPTION - IN BRIEF  The finance manager will be responsible for fund allocation to respective schools based on the budget prepared, ensuring that all regulatory and statutory requirements of Jayn Knowledgeum are met. In addition to this, the manager is also responsible for establishing and maintaining accounting systems for ease of operations. All end to end financial operations on a daily basis of Jayn Knowledgeum will be under the finance manager. i.e. accounting, finance, and taxation.   Primary Responsibilities  Financial management - budgeting/ accounting:  - Prepare annual budget for Jayn Knowledgeum in consultation with the management team - both Capex and opex  - Prepare a financial plan for the next 3 years/ 5 years  - Variance analysis of actual vs. budget - financial MIS/ dashboard preparation  - Monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing of books at the corporate level  - Preparation of Monthly Consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet  - Update and manage the school financial accounting, reporting, and monitoring systems - for accounts payable/ receivable, petty cash, credit control, etc.  - Align financial systems with payroll processing, salary disbursement, vendor payments, and other outflows  - Timely filing of returns  - Preparation of bank reconciliation statements  Handle all cash related matters - vendor payments, petty cash, cheque payments, etc.  Monitoring and advisory:  - Provide guidance for preparation of individual schools- annual budget and bring financial management outlook in judgement of schools   - Regular monitoring of performance against budget and highlight concerns and provide relevant information to all stakeholders  - Ensure that all regulatory and statutory compliances of Jayn Knowledgeum are met (labour laws, companies act, service tax, PF, employee insurance etc.)  - Supervise the payroll process at the corporate level and across individual schools  - Prepare and share monthly reports of actual performance against budget to the leadership team  - Oversee collection of fees at school level, cheque payments, book keeping function, etc.  - Review and track all insurance policies of Jayn Knowledgeum  - Checking expenditure items or invoices on a sampling basis to protect against errors  - Assist other functions in procurement related negotiations whenever required  Leadership:  - Assist the HR in identifying training needs and ongoing professional development for all staff within the finance department  - Supervise and assist accounts officers in individual schools with all finance related matters  - Provide any help to HR during the induction of staff within finance  - Facilitate training sessions for finance teams in schools to ensure that they are aware of associated procedures and regulations  Other activities;  - Ensure that checks, documentation, reports and returns (internal and external) related to finance are completed accurately, and submitted within required deadlines  - Prepare for the annual audit, liaising with all school-specific finance teams and other stakeholders  - Assist in any sponsorship/ fundraising opportunities including the preparation and submission of applications and bids  - Deal with any enquiries related to payments and other financial matters  - Liaison with external stakeholders and government authorities for taxation issues  - Identify and mitigate key elements of risk for Jayn Knowledgeum  Qualifications:  Essential:  - Proven working experience as Finance manager or other Finance executive (at least 6 years)  - Chartered Accountant/ICWA/Masters in Finance  - Strong numeracy skills and a sound understanding of tax and accounting practices  - Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation  - Strong computing skills including Microsoft Office suite and Excel in particular  - Absolute discretion when dealing with confidential information  - Strong interpersonal skills  - Excellent communication skills - both written and oral  - Ability to work with a dynamic group of people  - In-depth knowledge of Finance best practices  Desirable:  - At least 1 year of experience of working with educational institutions in a financial role  NOTE: The selected candidates would be expected to join at the earliest.
