Manager - Costing - Mfg/Auto (8-12 yrs)

Job Profile:

- Build, maintain, and update annually cost models for the full ALS (Apparel Labeling Solution) product range with input from Finance, Operations, and Product Development. These cost models will serve as the basis for COGS and standard costs.

- Develop costing standards and BHR for ALS worldwide print shops annually. Collaborate with Finance to validate BHR, and with Operations to validate throughput, scrap, etc.

- Assess profit margin by product line, and drive programs to manage profitability by customer.

- Collaborate with IT to launch and maintain a web-based model for efficient estimation of product costs.

- Develop blue-print for a cost-efficient global costing center that delivers quotations within the same working day.

- Form effective cross-functional liaison with Operations and Outsourcing Teams to achieve minimum productivity improvement of 3% per year.

- Benchmark and promote best practices for productivity gains across ALS global production operations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Manage ALS costing models globally for its full product range:

- Be a subject matter expert in product standard costs in a manufacturing environment;

- Insure accurate costing by having in-depth knowledge of print shop operations;

- Constructively challenge cost assumptions provided by Operations to insure accuracy and currency of input;

- Develop and schedule time-motion study to validate cost parameters;

- Review standard and actual costs for manufacturing variances;

- Map production cost trends by product line for Ops and PD management teams and recommend corrective actions, if any.

- Develop independent, collaborative partnership with Ops to facilitate open, constructive communication.

- Manage gross margin by product line, and drive customer profitability programs to meet annual budget.

- Effectively lead a team of cost estimators to meet KPI and SLA for quotations;

- Collaborate with Sales, Finance and Purchasing in maximizing inventory turn of key materials to reduce

inventory reserve and obsolescence;

- Establish and maintain a process for prudent addition of new material based on business justification;

- Support Finance in determining standard costs in BOM & ERP.

Knowledge & Skills:

- Excellent knowledge of standard costing methods.

- Excellent analytical skills to draw recommendations for ongoing cost efficiency initiatives.

- Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across geographies.

- Solid time management skills to meet tight timelines while balancing multiple projects.

- Ability to resolve competing project priorities for constituents while insuring transparency in the process through effective engagement of the parties and timely communication to stakeholders;

- Proactive visits and meetings with various ALS operations to review costing factors, including excess or obsolete inventory.

Education/Experience:

- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance; dual degree in MIS or MBA a plus.

- 8 -12 years of experience in standard costing, margin analysis, etc. in a manufacturing environment, preferably printing operation related to garment/apparel trim production.

- Knowledge of industrial engineering, time/motion study desired.

- Experience with SAP, BOM, routing, and standard costs, etc.

- Experience with financial analysis and database management techniques/tools

- Proficient in MS Office tools.
