Legal Advisor - Family Office Advisory

- Our Client is a leading Private Wealth Advisory and Family Office Advisory firm, who are seeking an experienced Private Client / Commercial Lawyer to join their Family Office team at Bangalore. Advising on a variety of matters from tax, funding and dynastical planning, inheritance and matrimonial law, the successful candidate must be extremely knowledgeable and versatile, capable of building strong relationships, and commercially focused.

- The role would, interalia, involve setting-up and maintenance of complex cross- border corporate and trust structures, establishing a single family holding and advising on various legal aspects of Indian, US and European real estate /investment portfolio, including SEC and US tax-related questions. On the investment side, the role would span due diligence of private equity investments, negotiating side letters and structuring investment vehicles on behalf of clients.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to :

- Reviewing ownership structures of relevant tax, disclosure rules and regulations and strategic planning to ensure the security and confidentiality of the clients financial affairs.

- Advising clients on tax obligations in the relevant jurisdictions in India and abroad (primarily UK/US), ensuring they are fully compliant, whilst overseeing that specialists are engaged in relation to preparation and filing of the necessary tax returns.

- Putting in place both long term and short term dynastical planning structures and related documents such as, succession, prenups, wills etc.

- Working closely with the client and trust administrators to ensure appropriate procedures are in place and appropriate corporate governance is followed.

- Advising the clients on ad hoc situations and events.

- Assisting clients with structuring and implementation of their philanthropic pursuits.

The type of person we are looking for :

- A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5+ years PQE gained in a well-respected law firm in India or internationally.

- Good working knowledge of family ownership, governance and fiduciary structures and associated tax and regulatory implications.

- A practical understanding of accounting and finance with a strong emphasis on the ability to prioritize and apply to achieve defined objectives.

- In-house experience and / or in-house secondments are highly desirable though not essential.

- You must be a self-starter with the ability to look for areas to contribute, once being comfortable make recommendations and taking ownership of them.

- Strong attention to details and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

- Candidates should have previous experience within a Family Office Advisory set-up
