The lead business analyst will be responsible for leading a team of 12 - 14 business analysts and delivering against the above outlined portfolio. In extreme situations, the lead BA may also have to step in as individual contributor to re instate the quality benchmarks or delivery commitments. Additionally, the BA lead or team would support / deliver ad hoc consulting projects.

Key deliverables / challenges :

- The recent restructuring of the IT organization coupled with heavy attrition has introduced high challenges for the lead BA role.

- Over the next 18 months, the candidate will be responsible for re-building the BA pool to the service delivery and quality standards as defined by the HOD. The pool should have an effective balance between core IT analysts and business analysts.

- Implement effective metrics & frameworks that enable strong alignment to wider deliveries and optimization.

- Review portfolio across IT programmes and tap into opportunities to expand services. This will enable the vision of building a BA COE in Bangalore for GBM IT. This will require strong networking and relationship building across business and IT.

Core objectives :

Leadership :

- Leadership styles are unique to every individual but how they adapt with the management and an existing team in interest of the organization is key.

- Understand the business and IT structures, network effectively to have the right visibility at the right layers

- Create a culture where quality and commitment are key pillars of the function

- Build an environment of high trust and transparency so you are the preferred point of comfort & escalation

- Focus on people development through a combination of training and up skilling programmes driven by ROI for the department

- Strong risk management on people and delivery

- Lead by example

- Demand Management: Demand to the lead BA is channelled via IT PM- s, other lead BA's or onshore functional lines.

- Introduce a strong estimation process that that be embedded and tracked as part of resource burn downs

- Planning the demand, prioritising delivery across programmes to meet most urgent needs if necessary

- Provide input into cross project forums to identify interdependencies & resolve inter / intra project issues

- Optimize capacity utilization through pool based operating model

- Take responsibility for the delivery of the analysis to plan and to budget.

Analysis :

- Nature of analysis could be technical or functional depending on the nature of the programme.

- Build solid domain and technical knowledge across all GBM IT programmes, this is critical to quality

- Proactively collaborate with key senior roles within business and IT to understand the bigger picture + future state architecture to ensure that business drivers are incorporated and overall business vision is met

- Communicate with business SMEs globally to understand the business problem/needs and translate it to the analyst for high quality and effective output

- Drive a culture to produce artefacts that are highly effective across the SDLC. This could be with the right combinations of clear and detailed specifications, story board, use cases; interface designs ensuring usability as key design principle; data models; other UML artefacts

- Introduce a robust quality measurement system

- Communicate to all stakeholders in a clear and timely manner

- Support design, development & testing - acts as the owner of requirements

- Strategic portfolio planning: Key objectives are driven from GBM IT CIO & COO translated via HOD.

- Understand and adapt to the department mandates with a balanced approach across organization, people & frameworks

- Identify teams strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement

- Drive best practices / standards to make the analysis team a centre of analysis excellence within GBM IT

- Be able to contribute to the creation of both current and target operating models

Governance :

- Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars), internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour

- To abide by the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant Compliance Department. The term compliance embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

- To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies.

- To maintain internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

Skills/Experience Required :

Essential experience :

- Minimum 10 years of core analysis experience in investment banking domain.

- Proven track record of successfully leading BA Teams to similar size for minimum of 5 years

- Exposure to client on boarding & enterprise data domains with strong understanding of global regulations

- Exposure of working as a lead BA in waterfall & agile environments

- CBAP certified

- Expert in VISIO, MS Office, BRD, FSD, process modelling, UML, Use Cases, database structures and SQL (especially Oracle)

- Understands architectural concepts, e.g. web server, build, deployment

- Exposure and success working in a matrix organization model

Essential skills :

- Proficient in communication with solid interpersonal skills & relationship management capabilities.

- Ability to understand management priorities and deliver independently with minimal supervision

- Confident in managing dialogues and expectations of senior ranks

- Contributes to improvements through innovative solutions, approaches, products or services.

- Ability to mentor / coach the team

- Communicates ideas, views, and concerns effectively and respectfully and actively participates in exchanges of ideas with others
