Lead Analyst - Statistical Modelling - Commercial & Private Banking Division (2-5 yrs)

JOB PURPOSE:

The role provides consultancy services to Commercial & Private Banking Division and requires the individual to undertake and deliver analysis, modelling and data-mining services to enable Commercial & Private Banking Division to achieve its financial and sales performance objectives.

The Capital, Risk & Pricing team are responsible for the development and delivery of analytical insight in order to optimise capital, enhance customer value and implement intelligent risk management within the Commercial & Private Bank (CPB).

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Masters in Business Administration / Maths / Statistics / Economics / Operational Research / Quantitative Economics. CFA/FRM preferred.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Economics/Commerce/Mathematics

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Technical skills: Expertise in statistical modelling techniques and related technical. Advanced knowledge of SAS data-mining and statistical models (e.g. SAS/STAT, Enterprise Miner) and other best in class emerging analytics applications

Good written, verbal and presentation skills.

Skilled user of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of data-management applications and reporting software (e.g. SAS, SQL, VBA, OLAP, Teradata)

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

Able to apply an innovative and pragmatic approach to problem solving.

Financial services background and experience an advantage.

Initiative, flexibility, willingness to learn and a - can do- attitude.

Committed to self-development and applying this effectively.

Organisational and time management skills in order to meet business needs.

KEY BUSINESS DELIVERABLES:

Development of the CPB customer value and returns model including the definition and implementation of a single profitability metric at a product, facility and customer level.

Facilitation of active portfolio management activity, including distribution and securitisation.

Front & Back Book pricing activity and analysis, and the assessment of the impact on aggregated and segmental returns. Assurance work to understand and improve the accuracy of CPB RWA data.

Asset level run off, forecast and behavioural analysis to support financial targeting and performance measurement.

Delivery of high quality value add insight that drives improved decision making with the CPB business and demonstrably moves the business forward and achieves commercial outcomes.

Work with the business to interpret and influence their objectives and measure the performance against these objectives where required.

Understand requirements, provide guidance and undertake ownership for functional delivery of multiple projects

Proactively take part in process improvement through idea generation and business delivery improvement initiatives (e.g. project enhancement through additional analysis modules etc.)

Challenge the business to ensure the analysis completed is relevant, adds value and achieves commercial outcomes
