Location: Gurgaon

KPMG Global Services (- KGS- ) is KPMG's global delivery platform that is an integral part of the firm's strategy to enhance innovation, build scalability, and improve profitability for its Clients (Member Firms within the KPMG Network of firms worldwide). It's a joint venture setup between KPMG INTERNATIONAL, Europe, US & India as a global capability hub to provide professional services to KPMG member firms. The setup has around 7,000 people focused on specialized knowledge services (Audit, Tax & Advisory) and is expected double in size over the next few years.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The position in discussion is with KGS Deal Advisory team. KGS- Deal Advisory Group is a team of over 550+ professionals based in Gurgaon. Deal Advisory is looking to develop sector expertise across all its service lines.

Within the Deal Advisory umbrella, we are recruiting the TMT Sector Lead who will support KPMG's global practices based in the US, Europe and the Asia Pacific with sector knowledge, research and advisory support. These services are offered to KPMG Deal Advisory practitioners in sponsor countries and the incumbent will work with them to build KPMG's knowledge content on the sector. The incumbent will work very closely with the respective onshore DA sector leads to support them on driving sector agenda across DA and will be required to advise on various deal advisory projects from the sector standpoint.

Deal Advisory sector team offers the following services:

- Supporting the global sector leads in market penetration activities through business development tools such as Thought leaderships, Point of views documents, industry reports, thematic reports, and white papers.

- Supporting the global sector lead in building sector strategy - picking up the latest trends and its implications, financial & strategic analysis of the sector based on secondary/primary research, report writing, horizon scanning, etc.

- Supporting on Deal Advisory products from a sector perspective in continuous effort to enhance the quality and value additions

- Continuous training and coaching the team members on sector for a high quality content delivery and sector value add.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are recruiting for an Assistant Manager in the Deal Advisory Sector team. Working as an Assistant Manager in this team, your responsibilities will include:

- Develop an understanding of KPMG's Deal Advisory Group and their services, value proposition, sales cycle, client buyers, key business triggers etc.

Project Content

- Lead/Advise on complex and challenging TMT related DA assignments - either as a part of an ongoing client engagement, or as a part of business development efforts for practice development

- In discussion with the respective global sector stakeholders, assist in the development of thought leadership publications

- Contribute industry insights to Global M&A publications

- Identify and track PE and Client targets for KPMG Deal Advisory Services

- Assist in the gathering and enforcement of league table submissions in the sector

- Extend ongoing support to/lead a business unit strategy initiative around business development, knowledge management, quality, process improvement etc.

- Set up standards for quality control; measure and report performance against those standards

Team Management

- Connect with sector aligned members of the KGS DA teams to facilitate sharing of knowledge and best practices

- Advise the various business units/service lines within Deal Advisory in driving the analysis, draw key insights pertaining to the sector and thereby work towards value addition to the live projects

Client/stakeholder Management

- Continuously engage with global sector stakeholders, interpret their requirements while demonstrating an understanding of the industry and managing the communication flow throughout

- Engage with the requestors/clients, interpret their requirements, estimate projects- scope and timeline, and manage communication flow end-to-end independently

- Lead in business development meetings/conference calls

- Work closely with global sector teams to develop and implement best practices

- Understand global industry objectives and support initiatives

Operations Management

- Ensure the team's operations (staffing, MI, recruitment, etc.) and key initiatives (such as training, BD collaterals, etc.) are managed with 100% adherence to the guidelines

- Manage the improvement of various processes around Global Knowledge Management, Learning & Development & Thought Leadership. This will involve liaising with senior internal stakeholders and managing junior/off-shore resources and where appropriate escalating issues & recommending courses of action.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this demanding role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

- Post Graduate or equivalent in Finance/Economics/Commerce with 6-8 years of relevant work experience in a similar role, particularly in a professional services firm / third-party KPO/IT-BPO company/internal research/strategy teams within key TMT companies

Project and Team management exposure

- Credible record of operating as an independent contributor and also working as part of a team during larger projects

- Prior experience in project scoping, effort estimate, project work planning, team handling, staffing, providing feedback, etc.

- High problem solving skills; ability to drive through to an outcome in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity

- Goal driven - should be focused on helping clients meet their requirements - by developing answers and solutions when client requirement remains unclear / changes, and by providing relevant insights and key questions to fit the client objective

Technical skills

- Exposure to/understanding of Deal/Transaction environment.

- Strong numerical, analytical and strategic thinking skills, and sound business / commercial acumen

- Thorough understanding of the business and technical side of various TMT concepts

- Ability to form and express independent opinion on TMT areas/developments

- Experience in preparing reports, thought leaderships, media articles, industry landscapes, company analysis and regulatory updates

- Proficient across databases (such as Investext, Factiva, Capital IQ, MergerMarket, Lexis Nexis, etc.), in identifying surrogates, and triangulating data

- Ability to assess technical information to distill key strategic insights and convey these succinctly, clearly and confidently, verbally and in written form in MS-PowerPoint
