These high-quality products are exported to over 25 countries and define trends in the global home furnishing market.   - Jaipur Rugs is a conscious organization that constantly endeavours to improve its value chain, connecting grassroot weavers with global customers. It has received various awards for improving the lives of the rural communities. It caught the attention of management guru (late) Shri C K Prahalad and its case study got featured in - The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid. The socio-economic development model of Jaipur Rugs is a topic of constant reference by a wide array of stakeholders.   Position Description :  JAIPUR is eager to welcome a Front-line-oriented operations expert to take up the position of General Manager (GM) - Production and Operations.   - The position will be based in its Head Office (HO) - Jaipur, Rajasthan, India and will require regular travel to its field operations spread across different states of India.   - The person will head the overall Production and Operations of Jaipur Rugs and create a Front-line-centric work culture in the organization.   - This includes managing a central support system (CSS) to ease working of the Front-line field teams involved with production processes and quality assurance, thus serving the grass-root weavers.   - The position-holder will increase operational efficiency of the organization through better planning, need-based work prioritization, supportive supervision, hand-holding, demonstration and continuous learning.   - The specific responsibilities of the position holder will be (though not restricted to) the following :  Managing Supply Chain and Operations :  - This includes raw material planning, procurement support, logistics related with transport and storage; visiting dyeing and washing facilities; coordinating with finishing and repairing centers  - Putting controls and checks in supply chain and operations so that benchmarks related with quality, time and wastage are met at all levels  - Inventory management - ensuring that idle time is minimized and inventory flow is in accordance with order priorities and production processes  - Coordinate with Branches and justify their existence as units of value creation - through cost benefit analysis, costing and expenditure analysis.  People Engagement and Development :  - Engage with people at all levels - Head Office as well as Front-line build rapport with them, listen to them, know about their concerns and aspirations.  - Periodically visit Field Operations of Jaipur Rugs on behalf of the Founder, replicating and incorporating the best practices employed by the Founder in day-to-day working of the Front-line.   - Talk to Key Leaders of the organization, especially those leading the Front-line and explore various ways through which their leadership skills could be enhanced further to enable them adapt with the changing times and business needs.  - Work with CHRO and Training Lead to develop a training and development roster for Front-line personnel, enabling them to maintain standardization in delivering their assigned tasks.   Learning and Knowledge :  - Develop a comprehensive understanding of how the Founder of Jaipur Rugs succeeded in establishing the entire business and note key stage-gates of evolution of the organization. Codify the breakthroughs related to Production and Operations for team sharing and reference.   - Map the winning businesses and quantify the units of value creation across the supply chain.  - Forecast the capability required for meeting existing and future orders and take necessary steps in bridging the gaps through resource re-allocation, training and capacity building.  - Develop Learning Systems in the organization in consultation with Training Lead so that Production and Operations personnel are able to learn from one another as well as through inputs from experts and practitioners.   Implementation and Problem Resolution :  - Map the imminent problems being faced by the Front-line and undertake root cause analysis of those to come up with sustainable solutions. Classify such problems and hold meetings with other department heads and management to resolve those in a time bound manner.   - Get involved in day-to-day activities of the team members and demonstrate the best practices of doing those, thus building their capabilities in the process and develop them as future leaders.  - Work closely with Design and Sales Departments to prioritize work orders and expedite processes  Planning, Monitoring and Review :  - Plan the weekly and monthly work schedules of Front-line leaders and personnel and extend due support in execution of such plans and mentor them during their implementation. Troubleshoot and resolve the emerging problems during such implementation.   - Align the actions of Head Office and Front-line with overall organizational growth strategy. Wherever required, lead the process of strategy formulation in consultation with management and experts, through active inclusion of the Front-line in setting goals, targets and milestones  - Schedule, Monitor and Restructure various meetings and teleconferences being held in the organization, analyze their quality and make those outcome oriented, not just process oriented. Ensure that issues emerging in such meetings and teleconferences get resolved on weekly basis.  - Review Production trends through MIS analysis and apprise management about the health of Production and Operations on weekly basis so as to take timely actions in consultation with them  - Develop Review Mechanisms relying on data collection, analysis and interpretation so that evidence based decisions can be taken by management during various review meetings.   Systems and Process Building :  - Adopt a systems approach in resolving the existing gaps in operations and value chain, thus formulating standards and processes to be followed by field team members   - Develop a tool (metric) to measure the performance of Branches and Branch personnel through data and information analysis, thus hand-holding those whose performance require improvement.  - Define lead times and response times for resolving various problems and undertaking various processes. Institute compliance mechanism to put these into practice as non-negotiables.  - Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to bring about standardization, system and process orientation in Production and Operations. Organize Training and Development Programme to spread awareness about these in consultation with CHRO and Training Lead.   - Develop Feedback Mechanisms and Problem Escalation Mechanisms so that weaver and front-line are able to post their messages, requirements and grievances and JAIPUR is able to take due action on those in a time bound manner  Academic and Professional Qualifications :  - Postgraduate Qualifications in the following or other related fields from an institute of repute: operations management, supply chain management, business administration.   - Possessing a very good understanding and keen interest in the field of value chain optimization, standardization of production processes, quality assurance and operational efficiency.  - Good work abilities with performance measurements and review tools like MIS, Excel, ERP, teleconferencing, videoconferencing etc.   - Exposure to focused group trainings with one-to-one mentoring/hand-holding component for field personnel of supply chain so as to develop their entrepreneurial/leadership capabilities.   - Good documentation and demonstration skills - reports analysis, case studies, good practice documentation for sharing and scaling  - Previous exposure to Artisan Collectives, Grass-root Supply Chains, Training and Development of Front-line personnel, production performance reviews.  Work Experience :  - Around 12-15 Years of work experience in leading Productions and Operations  - Around 3-5 Years of work experience in heading Operations of the manufacturing entity having field operations in decentralized setting - which includes working with grass-root communities and providing them with sustainable livelihoods through supply chain linkages.   - Demonstrable experience of developing and successfully rolling out Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs), resulting into improved operational efficiency.   - Demonstrable experience of leading change management in the organization for improving overall operational efficiency through systems improvement and process-re-engineering.  Personal Characteristics :  - Should be proactive in developing a comprehensive understanding about the product, the people and the processes involved in making JAIPUR a success story  - Should consider work as an expression of individual spiritual development and accept responsibility for spearheading organizational aspirations in a result oriented manner  - Should be a people person willing to engage with people of all kinds with love, empathy and compassion, promoting conscious connected-ness among all   - Should have sense of urgency and be able to prioritize the work in accordance with the immediate requirements of the organization   - Must welcome field travel in all circumstances and engage with grass-root communities to understand the field operations and all the people issues in their entirety  - A firm believer and practitioner of organizational philosophy, values and culture  - Should endeavor for achieving excellence through continuous learning, innovation and improvisation in organizational systems and processes   - Be able to adopt different leadership styles as per the need of the situation and people therein  - Should not see his role as a messenger - simply passing information and data from one source to the other.
